Kalidou Koulibaly

He was always a rash CB.

Tuchel fine tuned Rudiger's game, and could of also done it with Koulibaly. Ship has sailed now and even more so with reports he's never settled in London.

Can't blame in. I would struggle to settle in London if I spent years in Naples and i'm English.

Where have I mentioned pace? Not sure pace has ever been a worry for me regarding Koulibaly. It's the timing of his challenges that are reckless which is clear as daylight.  Commits when he shouldn't 90% of the time.

Lack of pace has been his biggest weakness by far Sconnie. Turns like an oil tanker. Has been exposed by opponents running at him / past him on multiple occasions.

Not for me.

Times his tackles and challenges like a lad just trying to break through.

"I would like to talk about the difficulties of Koulibaly at Chelsea," Capello told Sky Calcio Club. "In Naples, he was doing everything by himself. His problems now depend on the speed with which they play in England. It’s the same pace used by Udinese to give Roma fits. It’s something that must make us Italians reflect."

Looks like he's about to turn things around now.
It was always far to early to judge our recruitments when the whole side was a complete mess for a long time.

Our summer recruitments have been heavily criticized but right now Fofana, Koulibaly, Cucurella and Sterling are all performing so may not have been such a disaster afterall.

I think it's about identifying a weakness and not exposing him to it as much. The issues he has are still there, we saw it a few times against Leeds in the first half, it will never go away. I don't do it often, but I'll give Potter some credit here, he seems to have worked out something to avoid situations where Koulibaly's weaknesses will be exposed as much.

I have noticed that our back line isn't pushed as high these days, even the wing backs don't get forward as much. I think this helps Koulibaly a lot.

What will also happen is as he starts to know and study premiership players .. his anticipation will improve.

we forget sometimes that a lot of times this is about 1v1 mini battles.. as he learns about players and teams his performance will improve by atleast 10-15%

Pace isn't a huge deal for a cb - if protected.

Terry never had pace - but was never exposed until avb tried to play with a suicidal high line.

Silva doesn't have pace - but elite reading and positioning mitigates it.

Just don't know if K2 is good enough with the reading and positioning to build a system around him as we try to hide his weaknesses

Been decent last 2 games though - so credit where credit is due

Interesting coincidence that his upturn in form has been since he took Silvas spot in the team.

Because he's a CB that needs to be played in the middle. When played on either side, he gets dragged out to the wings and exposed in those areas.

Agreed, so for me it means Koulibaly should be used as Silvas back up/rotation player.

Badiashile/Colwill Silva/Koulibaly Fofana/Chalobah

Don't think we need to make any further CB signings now until Silva retires. Cucurella also capable.

When Silva retires, I'm tempted to take a gap year from football to process my grief. Pleased that Koulibaly and Cucurella have improved the last few weeks. I'd like to see a bit more of Badiashile. With the soft spot for one of our own, Chalobah is a no brainer for me, I had hoped to see him get significantly more minutes.

I thought Badiashile has been our best signing of the lot since we got the new lads in, love watching him play. Could be a natural successor to Silva with Colwill and Fofana either side for years to come

I remember Rooney saying Terry was very quick in tight areas.

Thought he was beginning to show signs that he was turning the corner in his performances, and then gets absolutely skinned by somebody called Ellis Sims.

Might have looked the monkey's nuts in Serie A but still struggling in the super fast, it's never over till it's over, any team can beat any team, EPL.

Bloke is a donkey. Fine when the game is slow and ball being played in the air.

Awful at everything else - particularly on the turn, when needing to run or when getting run at.

Disgraceful defending for the equaliser

you chose to ignore the pathetic pass from Kepa to no one in particular. Kepa is the biggest liability at Chelsea . The fist goal he stood there and did nothing , the second goal he showed his butter fingers
