Kalidou Koulibaly

Featured Replies

The fee for Navas, and PIF bottomless pits of cash, gives me hope we can make book value, and maybe even actual value, profits on Aubameyang, Ziyech, Mendy and Koulibaly.

I mean 55mill for Neves with 1 year on his deal is nuts so could well be the case for us to.

Mendy and Koulibaly have yet to indicate they want these moves though, so will see. Ziyech and Auba have.

Saudi’s really saving our club. Hopefully this means we don’t have to sell Chalobah.

Now why would Koulibaly, who has a much bigger reputation in the game, be worth 25mill euros but Neves be worth 55mill euros?

That is basically 20mill pounds and would be a book value loss for us. We need at least 26.6mill pounds so we can consider Koulibaly a wash, and that won't help us with this year's FFP although for for team and the business overall will be a big help.

Neves is 26, Koulibaly 31. Age matters. If you say 35 is the best you could hope for you have 4 years from Koulibally and 9 from Neves. Makes Neves worth more than 2x Koulibaly.

Fair point. Did not realize Neves was so young. that is really early to go to such a league.

Sounds like we are finally getting the out of jail card. If we could get out money back, happy to send him out. Although our backline is short of experience, my guess is we will buy another defender.

WTH is Neves doing in the Saudis league? This is a player good enough to play for the elite teams in Europe, at least Oscar played a couple of years of CL football before he went for the big money.

Must be a huge wage.

Including Kante all the players of ours the PIF have target are Muslim I believe, which is apparently important to the Saudis.

We already have enough CBs, and getting rid of Koulibaly opens up an avenue for Colwill to get more game time as a LCB. Colwill, Badiashile, Thiago, Fofana & Chalobah is more than enough in a season without European football.

Unbelievable that we’re shifting KK. Thought we’d be stuck with him. To get close to his book value will be massive as well as I suspect the club will be willing to take a small loss on him.

We’ve got too many defender and this opens up a slot for Colwill.

Good news if true. One of the players that upsets the whole wage structure at the club.  If Havertz goes too, then we only have Reece James and Raheem Sterling on more than £200K a week (if there is any credence in the wages info online)

I think KK would be better in a second season with us, but if it means Colwill gets a regular slot at left centre back then I am all for it, and doubly so on days of the week ending in a Y 🙂

I believe Kepa is on that high salary list as well. Pulisic and Ziyech likely not far behind to.

Kepa is on 190,000pw till 2025. Sterling on 300,000+.

Seen a few starting to lose their sh*t on Twitter because PIF are heavy investors in Clearwater 🤔😂

Seen the same and had plenty of arguments with people so far today about it 😆 Rival fans now think we're owned by Saudi and they're protecting Chelsea by offering obscene amount for our players. We're literally making a loss on Koulibaly lmao

I think it is more to do with PIF having an investment in Clearlake, meaning if they get rid of our garbage and the club does well, they get a higher ROI when Clearlake makes a profit from the club.

So to add to this, after a bit of digging...

-PIF has $900m invested in Clearlake. So a 1.5% stake.

-Clearlake is a majority owner of Chelsea Football Club being a 60% shareholder. (£4.5bn)

So the narrative is that PIF is spending hundreds of millions on Chelsea footballers (on top of the hundreds of millions they are spending on Non Chelsea footballers) because they want to protect their £40m-£135m stake....

Yeah. Sounds like an agenda driven story but hardly a surprise because it's Chelsea.

Clearlake are an investment management group, they manage billions of pounds of investment for hundreds of investors, including PIF, its literally their job. Anyone who suddenly thinks were now owned by PIF is a moron.

I wanted us to go for Neves originally,  I'm a little surprised by this as well.
