It was a bit harsh actually, but i had the ridiculous notion that we were going to compete or at least try to compete this coming season.

Think most people would like this signing.

But there is a concern in signing a 31 year old defender from a league with such poor attacking players that even Lukaku looked decent by comparison.

He's a great signing if we can get him, Silva is 37 and has been our best defender with Rüdiger

if he can play for 3 seasons it will be a cheap option for such an experienced defender

he is intimidating as well, i like that

you really don't have to worry about that. Silva played in Ligue 1 

He had a brilliant game against Mbappé a couple of years ago which really summarises how good he is 

What i like about him is what i also really like about Silva: he seems to have great intuition and anticipation of danger and where to go, he's always in the right position. He doesn't even need his speed that much because of his defensive intelligence.  

just like Thiago Silva he makes it look very effortless and easy 

 

also he played in the African Cup and a lot of games in the CL, i'm sure the scouts will have watched him there too 

i'm very convinced he's the best CB we can sign, he might play 3 seasons for us at top level, maybe more if he's just as fit as Thiago Silva

I don't think his age is as old as people are making it out to be. 31 years old is pretty much the age when centre backs are at their best. We could have 3 to 4 good seasons out of him before he starts to decline.

Negotiations ongoing between Napoli and Chelsea.

Kalidou Koulibaly to Chelsea is getting close. Talks with his agent and Napoli are progressing and Chelsea are increasingly confident an agreement will be reached. #CFC have moved fast with a view to a £33 million (€40 million) deal.

Not the first time Chelsea have considered Koulibaly. Always on the list of potential centre-backs but Napoli have previously fended off interest saying they don’t want to sell. Koulibaly was probably best defender in Serie A last season and would be a magnificent signing.

Still some work to be done to finalise the deal. One of the reasons for this is Luciano Spalletti has made it very clear to the Napoli board he wants to keep Koulibaly. His reaction to a sale will be interesting. Napoli board have always been divided on whether to sell or not.

Koulibaly is just a very complete defender. He’s technical and composed on the ball and in his decision making plus offers strong leadership. He would be a superb addition to Chelsea and the Premier League.

Seems to be getting close and being reported by more and more well reputable journos. 

Who would've thought we would be getting Koulibaly after all the links to other CBs. I thought we were done with Koulibaly since Conte was at the club.

Massive. 3-4 years at least left in him and will give Colwill + Chalobah some much needed experience.
