Kalidou Koulibaly

Very good defender, we need defenders, what's not to like? Confused at some of the caution on here, 31 is not old.

Keeping him healthy is the key. Missed quite a few games the past 3 seasons.

Apparently Koulibaly deal is for 4 years, with a possible club option for a 5th.

He is heading to the UK for his medical which will start tonight, Napoli have gone over the contracts and approved the deal, final signatures and exchange of money all that is left as long as medical is passed.

He'll have to queue up. I think Sterling is stilll in there

Aside from maybe Rudiger, you won't see a better CB move this summer. And again maybe aside from Rudiger, you won't see a better value CB move this summer. One of the top handful of defenders over the last decade, only just turned 31, like Van Dijk, but with a lesser injury toll, and at club level at least will have a very real hunger for big trophies that he's not been at a club capable of challenging for.

I'm not very keen on a lot of the other CBs we've been linked with, but I'm treating them as Christensen (who I don't think we'll miss much) replacements now. Replacing Rudiger was the big one, and Koulibaly's one of the very few around who can fill that void. We're very lucky to have him. Can't wait to see strikers bouncing off him soon!

'Kalidou Koulibaly is one of the best I've ever coached, along with the likes of Maldini, Nesta, Cannavaro, Ramos, Thuram and Terry,'  Don Carlo says.

Compared to Chelsea's other defensive targets - Matthijs de Ligt, Jules Kounde, Milan Skriniar and Ake - Koulibaly stacked up best in the 2021-22 campaign when it came to interventions.

Yup multiple sources confirm this as the plan and should be shown off as our player tomorrow.

I guess the new owners can make a transfer happen fast after all, and with Napoli of all clubs lol.

With De Laurentiis apparently spitting bricks as well LOL. Perfect ! Regardless of whatever else he does, Boehly must now be a shoe-in for the Tuttosport "Best Club Director in European Football 2022" !

I think we have stopped the "You value player X at 60M, we offer: 32M. You take?" Them: "No, it's just barely half!" Us: "Okay, 32.75M?" knit-picking style of negotiations.

I wonder if were were using De Ligt as a smokescreen, with Koulibaly our main target all along ?

Certainly distracted Bayern and Juventus LOL

Doubt it. De Ligt will be at the top of the game for a near decade, Koulibaly only has a few years left at the top.

As Koulibaly lands in London to secure his move to Chelsea  he was asked who deserves the most credit for securing his  move.

He said it was Manchester United for turning him down in favour of spending £80m on Kryten from Red Dwarf.

De Ligt is an RCB (plays like Harry Maguire on the left side)

Koulibaly is an LCB (for the last decade for club & country)

However, on the subject, it’s a nice ‘f**k you’ to Juve if they had planned to sign Koulibaly, as they’ve been shoe-horning the Dutchman out left for Bonucci who prefers the right.

Boehly negotiations have been interesting. Barcelona were forced to pay up for raphina and Bayern for de ligt. I wonder if we might not have taken de ligt if he had wanted to come.
