We might have just signed a real gem. Your are partially right. It’s to do with when your born in the school year calendar. Sept-Feb have a better chance of making a pro footballer than kids born later in the school year.
November 23, 20223 yr Cesare's goal in the EFL (Papa John's) Trophy last night deserves a far wider audience than it's likely to get buried in the development squad thread.

November 23, 20223 yr Noteworthy as well that Bergstrom (our loanee) in goal is 6'6" and he can't get anywhere near it LOL

November 29, 20223 yr He scored a hat trick in the last friendly for u21 from midfield! I really hope we see him in the first team soon.

How are his 5 yard sideways and backwards passes though? He needs to get the basics down before we coach this goal scoring lark out of him.
December 4, 20223 yr https://www.chelsea-news.co/2022/12/chelsea-talent-too-good-for-u21-level/ "Speaking on the London is Blue podcast, noted academy-watcher “Chelsea Youth” admitted that the Italian was “too good for this level,” and wouldn’t look out of place in the first team."
December 4, 20223 yr He has all the makings of a true no.8, a player we really haven't seen since Frank. Perhaps a loan next year (assuming lower half Prem or Championship contender) would be good. That said, if you're good enough you're ready, so maybe some first team time!
December 5, 20223 yr Last player i remember being this clear of players his own age group was CHO. Took far too long for Sarri to get him into the first team and when he finally did was always one of our best players before the injury. Hope we can give Casadei a debut and a few appearances of the bench for the rest of the season with the idea of him then being ready for next season. Not like we're exactly spoilt for talent at CM at the moment and could save us a fortune in summer.
December 5, 20223 yr Inter Milan must have a lot of talent in their youth setup if they could let him go this easy. He does look good, but obviously time will tell. We have seen similar talent at youth level, then when they go to the Championship or PL on loan, they no longer look as good.

Inter are happy to sell their youth products, so long as its for a decent fee. They did the same with Zaniolo.
December 5, 20223 yr Inter were and still are desperate for cash and £12.6m goes a long way. Better to sell off your prospects.
December 5, 20223 yr Inter owed us a favour after mugging us off with Lukaku so maybe Casadei was it, cheers lads.

February 28, 20233 yr https://www.readingchronicle.co.uk/sport/23349653.chelsea-midfielder-comes-heavy-praise-reading-fc-boss/ Heard he started slowly at Reading but looks like he's got up to pace in the league now. The midfielder joined on loan from the Stamford Bridge outfit in January, playing twice so far under fellow former Inter Milan player Ince. Starting, and impressing, in the 3-1 win over Blackpool, the 20-year-old came in for plenty of praise. "I was really pleased with Ces [Casadei]," Ince said. "He came back in again. When you come from a different country, particularly Italy, the tempo was a lot different to Championship football. He needed a couple of weeks training to get into that tempo and you saw that today on the pitch. He’s getting there. You sit there and wish he was our player, but he has to go back to Chelsea. He did really well and will get better and better."
March 16, 20233 yr I can see the Lampard comparisons. Lad's got a strike on him. Edited March 16, 20233 yr by Sconnie Blue
March 20, 20233 yr Some more nice feedback on Casadei ... this time in the Reading Chronicle, following Reading's latest game : Cesare Casadei, 7: Another good performance from the Chelsea youngster. Loved to get forward and support the forwards, as well as tracking back. Sounds like he is developing nicely as a box-to-box midfielder !
March 20, 20233 yr Would he compliment Enzo well? We seem to be hoarding a hell of a lot of midfielders that play best in the opponents half. Looks a good player though, glad we got him and Santos.

Looks a good player though, glad we got him and Santos. Could well do ... physically at least he's a good match for Enzo. I think you need at least one well-built guy in there out of your 2 or 3 central midfielders to add that element of physicality and steel. Certainly going to be interesting to see which of our new crop are able to kick on to the top level. l think Chukwuemeka might have a lot of upside that we haven't seen yet as well.
May 22, 20233 yr Seems to have been forgotten about since we signed him. (https://www.chelseafc.com/en/news/article/brilliant-casadei-bags-brace-as-italy-beat-brazil-at-under-20-world-cup) There was a meeting of Chelsea players at the Under-20 World Cup on Sunday night and it was Cesare Casadei who shone to help Italy get the better of Andrey Santos’s Brazil. Both players captained their respective countries, and it was Casadei who emerged with the bragging rights as he assisted one goal and scored two more before half-time as Italy raced into a three-goal lead. Brazil got two back late on, but it was not enough to prevent a 3-2 defeat. The Italians were up and running in the 11th minute when Casadei won the first header from a left-wing cross which he flicked on to Matteo Prati to half-volley into the roof of the net. A quarter-of-an-hour later, Casadei made it two. Again his aerial prowess was too much for the Brazilians to handle as he won the first contact from a corner and then nodded the bouncing ball into the unguarded net. Casadei was not done there. With 33 minutes played, he glided past the Brazil right-back who could only drag him to the ground. It was a clear penalty, one Casadei confidently converted to the keeper’s left.

The fact we have both the Brazil and Italy U20 captains in our team is impressive. Still a long way to go on the mens game of course, but very nice early signs. As long as they keep stepping up their levels and improving we got nothing to worry about
