For me, he's been good when he has the ball and has looked quite suspect/dodgy without it but I guess that's part of adapting to a new system/team. He has been doing his role quite well without the ball from what I have watched. His movement and positioning is good and he makes tackles and wins the ball every match, obviously he isn't just yet putting up performances from last season but he's not really sus... Gallagher and Enzo are more dodgy, I believe.

I knew he's young but he doesn't seem to naturally read the game and be in the perfect spot. Not saying he's always in the wrong place or he's the reason we are conceding goals, he gets it very right at times like v Arsenal before the team fell apart but not as consistently as I would like. As for Gallagher and Enzo, I would expect them to be more dodgy as neither are the type you should have holding in front of your defence.

The exact money is a different ball game but I think it's very good we've gone big prioritised rebuilding the midfield first and foremost. We only need to look at the Bakayoko era and the post Jorginho/Kova/Kante declining period to see just how dehabilitating a poor midfield is. Edited November 1, 20232 yr by Argo
November 1, 20232 yr Conceding goals isn't our issue. It hasn't been for a long time. We score against Brentford and I don't believe we concede. No brain fart against arsenal. And we don't concede. Caicedo is in our midfield for the next 8 years and I'm happy with that.
November 7, 20232 yr Not enough is being said about his wrongly disallowed weaker foot didn’t lash at it extremely controlled. That’s class he will only get better

November 12, 20232 yr What does this guy actually bring to the team? I hardly ever see him win any tackles or interceptions, and his passing isn't very good either.
November 12, 20232 yr Barely noticed he was on the pitch if I am being honest. Wasn't bad, wasn't good, he was just there.

Forgot he was playing until he got turned and that 3rd City goal was down to him. Needs to improve massively.
November 12, 20232 yr The Enzo-Caicedo pivot has not been as good as I expected it to be so far, but they have been tough games. Given time hopefully it comes together, it might get interested when Lavia comes into the fold perhaps.
November 13, 20232 yr Pair are fantastic with the ball but still naive in the defensive transition. Caicedo at fault for City’s third goal when he stepped and Haaland got away. Enzo lets the game go past him defensively from time to time. Both still very young.
November 13, 20232 yr Both Enzo and Caicedo work a lot and it's not really seen by the fans that notice Gallagher much easier but make no mistake they all work super hard and I dare to say that Enzo is over-worked.
November 13, 20232 yr Author Ecuador have Venezuela away on Thursday a then host Chile the following Tuesday. We saw the affect it had vs Arsenal, how run-down Caicedo and Enzo were later in the game. Does he rest one of them? Or does he plan to use Lavia and Lesely off the bench at around 60 minutes? At some point we need to give them a weekend off to recover from all this travel and high intensity international games.

Both him and Enzo made errors that could have meant us conceding 4 goals, but thankfully we were only punished once (City's 3rd goal). Don't get me wrong, I like them both and those two + Gallagher should be a really good midfield for many seasons to come, but Caicedo needs to be a bit more alert.

It was maybe the type of the match too, sure we conceded 4 goals but so did Rodri and that's the best squad in Europe right there and we scored at least 1 goal because of Caicedo. Many times he went way up the pitch in order to pressure and many times he fouled cause the game is too fast for him but it was against the best team.

Still only started 8 games together as well. When the partnership is truly "developed" it will be awesome.

I was pulling my hair out at the amount of space available for City's creators behind him. And then you have Disasi who's just going to back off into his own goal when both he and Silva should be contracting the space. Look it may also have been a side effect of some tactical changes that may take him (and Enzo) some time to work out but Poch needs to iron it out as soon as possible.
December 3, 20232 yr For someone that is labeled as one of the best DM in the league, added with his record 115m pricetag, he's underwhelming. It's not like he's new to the league either. Poch already said he had a private talk with him cause of his bad form so I'm starting to have doubts about him. Lavia should get the chance when he's back from injury, we need to control any given match way better.
December 3, 20232 yr Other than a couple of bad tackles, he played well, not sure why fans are turning on him and calling him a flop
December 3, 20232 yr Currently he's a shell of his former self. When we got him I thought he had potential to be a revolutionary signing on the back of his performances at Brighton but he's been hugely disappointing so far. Don't think all the blame falls on his shoulders though. He benefitted from a very set system at Brighton and I think his struggles here are a symptom of our struggles and Pochettino's inability so far to stamp his authority on this side. We are at the very least showing a bit of fight this season and thank goodness for that but we are not at all playing football like a side who's got both of the most expensive central midfielders of all time.
December 3, 20232 yr My main 2 issues with him are: 1) He is really slow on the ball. It's like he needs a few seconds to decide what to do. 2) He pushes up and dives in towards challenges too much, and is then easily played around.

It just shouldn't take that long for him to put his own ability in the spotlight and make things easier. I don't blame him for conceding goals but I see he could have also gotten a second yellow, we played Brighton that missed a few players too.

I’m not going to call him a flop but let’s put it this way, if Lesley was playing today instead I wouldn’t have noticed any difference.
