Been a rough start of the season for the lad, confidence and how he reacts to these mistakes could make or break him as a player.

Was watching the highlights from last night and 5:38 on the below worries me. Watch Caicedo (number 23), just watch players dancing around him while Argentina continue the attack. Very strange:

Not a good showing at all, but a bit too early right now, I say we give Caicedo a season first before we get worried.

I know the pricetag is huge but he's still only a kid at 21.

Yeah, I hope the no.9 curse hasn’t shifted to the no.5 or 25 in this case! Every mistake he makes seems to turn into a goal against

Separate curse, involving anyone who comes to Chelsea from Brighton it seems lol.

His performances will improve but I fear the price tag that he had no control over will hang over his head his entire career and quite simply he's nowhere near talented enough to justify the fee we've paid.

I hope people's expectations reflect the player Caciedo actually is and not only the amount of money our owners have overpaid for him.

A lot of the mistakes/issues that have propped up since we signed him seem to be due to a lack of focus/confidence. I think he'll be fine once he's settled in. 

(Will probably just copy and paste this in the thread of every player we sign)

Hell be fine. Just tighten up the mistakes. There is also an odd thing that I’ve seen him just walking a little too often rather than chasing back, but low sample so not sure what to make of that. 

the price was unjustifiable, but we paid it, really would have preferred other options, but I just see the mistakes as little blips... He has heart and character and, mores the point, wanted to join us. As he beds in, im sure we will start to see a colossus emerge, im hoping in the Kante role as a midfield destroyer. It will also help when he gets more minutes with the players around him so we're going to have to suck up any mistakes he makes as I think we'll see his true character emerge over the next six months. (we saw it with JT and look how that turned out). 

If you're asking for leaders on the pitch, I think his performances will give us that. Here's to a great performance from him this weekend... and subsequent games.

Oh come on, serously?

Personally I'm delighted with Caicedo so far. Two and a half games and he hasn't got injured.

Hasn't been training with the team, and is being assessed tomorrow for the Villa game.

That sums it up for me. Think everyone got carried away with this signing, especially once Klopp and the Dippers looked like getting him and it became "we must sign him at ANY cost".

He could well turn out to be a great player for us and if he can get anywhere near Kante levels, then we can say he was a good signing, but for me a £115m price tag should only be for the very top players - a 25+ goal a season striker or a match winner like Hazard, NOT a midfielder like Caicedo. But that is the madness that is modern football and Chelsea FC in particular.

 

If he hasn't been training, I don't think they'll take risks and assume Lesley will play in his absence (perhaps he makes the bench).
