He is already proving to be an example of how tough it is for a good young player being removed from a side full of experienced pro's and placed into a side full of kids. These young players need help, but they have nobody around them to help them. Yeah, Brighton - the team full of experienced pros like Mitoma, Ferguson, Gilmour, Van Hecke, Enciso, Colwill... Straight into a team full of kids like Sterling, Silva, Chilwell, Disasi, Gallagher... He was one of the best DMs in Europe last season, the equal of anyone in this league. How about you give him a minute? Edited September 3, 20232 yr by venom2011

How about you give him a minute? You mention Gilmour, the player who many said wasn't premiership quality who has provided more assists than all three of our midfielders in one game so far. You reckon we sign Gilmour back to make Caicedo the world class player he was at Brighton? Hope we put a buy back clause in his contract.

September 4, 20232 yr Very early days for Caicedo and he has to have time to settle in. Hopefully he can be for us what Declan Rice is rapidly turning into at Arsenal. A colossal performance from him yesterday against United and looking every inch the leader some people thought he could be.

Was even reports that Enzo saw Rice as his ideal midfield partner.

He says he wants a personal apology otherwise he is going to score against us and lift his shirt to show a "Blame Argo for that" message.

Bizarre take to be honest. This is the side that drew 1-1 with Man City at the end of last season. Look at the core of that side - van Hecke, Colwill, Gilmour, Mitoma, Enciso, Buonanotte - and Caicedo... Hardly the "side full of experienced pros"...?

A colossal performance from him yesterday against United and looking every inch the leader some people thought he could be. if's but's maybes my next post... Funny you mention Rice, an ex CFC youth teamer. What if CFC had decided to pursue Declan Rice this summer, we could have saved 5 million quid on him over Caicedo. The ex Chelsea youth teamer could have also had a settling influence on Mason Mount who may have signed a new contract with us... That 5 million quid saving on Caicedo could have potentially been paid to Mount which means we could have sold Connor G for 50 million and Rice would have only cost 50... HOWEVER, I do fully expect this squad to develop, caicedo to go on and have a bigger influence and many better games for us... he looks like a terrier midfielder, but all that glitters isn't gold. Always worth keeping an eye on CFC targets, missed transfers and compare them to what our own produces over a season. I do like Jackson, he's plays with heart, but we really need to find other leaders because Silva isn't good enough anymore. Love him as a player but his best days are far behind him and we need to move the team on. I'd have rather kept Dave and Kante this summer. fingers crossed the Poch find the right formula and players for it among his 1 Billion silk purse

Experience counts a lot when your team is not playing well and are losing. Thats when the experienced older players area able to rally the young ones but you need it when you have a seriously good coach, your team are playing well and winning

Just saying "We need experience" is meaningless, we need the right players with the right mentality.

September 5, 20232 yr The experience and leadership of Rice would have been so much better for us than Caicedo this season lets be honest...
September 5, 20232 yr Doesn't look settled yet. Seems a bit lightweight and not really confident. You can see what he's supposed to bring though. There's something there so I'm still confident he'll come good once he's settled. Just needs to shake off the weight of the price tag, get rid of the nerves, then we'll see what he was brought in for.

Poch was desperate for experience and you can't really ask for much more than Rice while still maintaining the youth model of signings. Would have been cheaper and more ready made for an incredibly young an inexperienced team.

September 5, 20232 yr Rice was the safe bet and Caicedo was still a bit of rough diamond but potentially a lot more to offer. I think we'd went for Rice under Roman. Boehly and his guys craved for potentials, long contracts and future re-sale. I think both Chelsea and Arsenal will be happy with their 100M+ signings, buying Levia when there were other gaps to fill was just a bit of madness or trigger happy. No idea how Santos and the other guys will get regular games, nobody will pay big money to buy them if they aren't playing regularly for a good team.
September 5, 20232 yr I would have liked Rice, sometimes feels Chelsea have become the Global Super stars without the super, perhaps they will shine or just be mercenaries yet Rice is a traditional Brit and knows what fans expect.

He was completely caught out of position for Richard Ramirez's offsides goal and owes a huge thanks to Gabriel for forcing that questionable offsides. Would've been a completely different tune had that went in.
