Joao Felix

Its really not that bad of a strategy FINANCIALLY to sign a player like Felix, thinking that if he doesn't work out we can loan him to someone who probably will be happy to pay at least close to his yearly cost for us. Do this for a couple of seasons, and his book value will be low enough that you'll make a profit on him even if he doesn't make it here.

However, it semms like they forgot a couple of things:
- Restriction of loans. If I've read correctly theres a limit of six loans a season not counting our Cobham players under 21.

- Squad building. We're taking way too many punts like this instead of buying what we actually need

- Our standing among players. Who, after seeing the way we deal,  will want to sign for us thinking they'll only be used as pawns as we desperately try to stay afloat financially?

- Pathway for our Cobham graduates. If I'm an up and coming 10' in the youth teams and I see Palmer, Felix, Nkunku, Carney and KDH already in the squad with Paez on the way in, I'd to anything to get a move elsewhere. Squad is faaaar to bloated

So I guess us fans need to be as excited before signing a player that the financials make sense and are as appealing as the players skillset. 🫡

So he spends years trying to get away from Simeone only to finally do so then 6 months later decides he wants to go and play for Conceição which is the closest thing to reuniting with Simeone without actually doing so.

Ermmmm, good luck i guess.

Absolute joke of a transfer situation.

I think Felix is a good player, but why are we buying him just to sell him 6 months later? What complete f**king nonsense.

It probably has something to do with Omorodion deal falling through and us being desperate to offload Gallagher to Atletico. Just like buying Kellyman from Villa while selling them Maatsen, in both cases the fees seemed inflated and deals done for non-footballing reasons.

We're not selling him. Even if that was the plan this mob are not good enough to pull that off.

If he's on a loan to Milan, I can only see him exiting the club after this move.

Either way, it looks stupid, we sign him on a big fee just to loan him in the next window? It's comedy.

Complete circus, we went into this window needing to strengthen our attack and have ended it significantly worse.

Have we though? Have we really?

There needs to be a genuine investigation as to who authorized this transfer last summer. Reeks of doing Mendes a favor over doing what's best for the football club.

Mendes will help Clearlake buy a Portuguese club for the model later down the line, i imagine the powers that be see that this was in the clubs Clearlake's favour.

Has to be the only explanation.

That was the original plan when we paid a ridiculous loan fee for half a season loan, I don’t think that is on the table anymore. Either that or he has the club by their cojones.

€5.5m loan fee apparently. Not even a good amount.

2 years ago Chelsea paid 9.7 mill quid to loan him for the same duration !

They're all broke. Nobody in Europe can cover his wages long term

Sounds about right. These twats always pay double for everything, and usually offer them triple their previous wages as well

BlueCo & their SDs are making a strong case as the biggest load of cretins to run a club in football history. Making Peter Ridsdale look shrewd !

In footballing terms Felix never really played for us. 12 games and one goal.  I stll think we should have played him a bit more.  I would like to have seen more of what he had to offer.  But yep, none of this seems to be football based.

Seeing a lot of this "12 appearances" and let's be real here. It's a disjointed mishmash equivalent to 4 full games. 5 of the "12" appearances were for 0, 4, 6, 9 and 9 minutes respectively.

Shockingly under-utilised by a novice manager who I doubt will last much longer if he carries on like he's been doing for the last few weeks.
