Enzo Fernandez - Officially a Blue!

I really like Enzo Fernandez as a player. He's a great player and he has a winning mentality. In this forum he gets a lot of stick - dont really get that outside of this forum tbh.

I agree he does have a winning mentality but I still wouldn't class him as a "great" player. He can be decent in some games and he's had his moments, but he does give the ball away far too often and miss places way too many passes for a player in his position. And at times, opponents go past him just like they used to with Jorginho.

Good squad player but if all fit, I would go with Caicedo, Santos and Lavia.

Winning mentality isn't something i associate with him. Disappears under pressure, regularly leaves gaping holes in the middle of the park and has taken a game by the scruff of the neck about as many times as @PloKoon13 has praised a right wing comedian.

One of the, admittedly many, problems with our squad is the lack of leaders with a winning mentality, Enzo is one of those problems.

Regardless what you think of enzo our situation is not as easy.

Let's just say we play standard 6 attacker and midfielder. We play Palmer, Jp, santos and Caicedo.Which mean you need to pick 2 out of Enzo, estevao, Neto, Garnacho, Delap, Guiu. Even then you have to assume estevao as half because the kid keep getting small injury

Great player - no hes not, what exactly is he great at?

Winning Mentality - no he hasnt, hes almost always the first to go missing once the pressure kicks in during a game, when we go behind he doesnt carry us as a team, he drops out and just falls over a lot.

Yeah, as I said, in this forum he really isn't rated by the "experts" is he. Shame. Personally I think he is a great player. Jamie Carragher agrees with me. lol.

What is Enzo Fernandez great at?

Playing football

He's in the 69th percentile for pass completion rate.

He's in the 59th percentile for assists.

He's in the 14th percentile for dribble success rate.

He's in the top 30th percentile for being dispossessed.

He's in the 26th percentile for being dribbled passed.

He's in the 41st percentile for interceptions.

He's in the 43rd percentile for ground duels won.

Explain to me how someone who is an average passer, a horrible dribbler, gets dispossessed a lot and is a horrible defensive player, is great at playing football? Or is half his goals being penalties and the other half being goals he popped out of nowhere whilst playing sh*t clouds those metrics above?

Remember when some were saying he would be the next Fabregas? 😐

He will be. He is a great player. It is a shame the the posters around here don't seem to like him much.

Laughable. At his age, Fabregas was 10x the player. There isn't a player in the world today that can pass the ball and control a midfield as well as Fabregas did at his peak. I can't think of many games at all where Enzo has controlled any midfield.

Thought he player really well tonight, the yellow card was so stupid though, as vice captain you've got to set an example and far too often he does petulant sh*t like tonight and gets booked.

Fully expected him to get another stupid yellow and complete our Red Card XI tbh

I must say I was baffled as to why he got a yellow card. It's not like the decision went against us so I'm a bit confused how it was seen as a a sarcastic clap. And as per usual we have seen far worse from the likes of Bruno and Joeltion just the other day and no card.

As for his performance, bar a few missed placed passes he was very good. Not just with the passes to set up the goals but his overall play with pressing, etc was good.

Although it was a silly booking I too can’t understand the logic behind the booking.

By football terms or even dictionary terms it wasn’t dissent.

A simple “calm down Enzo you’ve won the free kick” from the ref would have surely sufficed.
