To be fair, the amount offered, plus Ziyech plus loans for 2 others, can be spun as 120m total value

I think cash plus a player swap would help Benfica, as they still have to give a quarter of their earnings to River.

Boehly and Vivell have embarrassed the club. Did they really think lowballing was going to work? If anything this has just burnt a bridge with Benfica and now other clubs are going to be wary when negotiating with us. 

 

 

Till now, Todd has shown he is only willing to negotiate properly with Brighton, even grossly overpaying for Cucurella. He is been sh*te when it comes to negotiation with top clubs. His true level is Brighton and he has assembled his ideal recruitment team incapable of negotiating properly.

Doesn't have to happen if there's only adults dealing with this. 

Both sides just need to learn from all this for future negotiations.

It's not convenient for Benfica either to break relationships with anyone.

Matt Law no longer has inside information after Boehly cleared out the Roman regime. His sources have left and he revealed that in a podcast.

Did not offer to Benfica, it was told to Enzo. That's what caused the pissing.

Rui Costa in fact, was open to negotiate those 127M. But then Chelsea came back with a different offer again.

Thanks for clarifying. So basically the club told Enzo they were prepared to pay the release clause, but never followed through with that offer to Benfica. If so, while that is certainly a crap way to treat a prospective new signing, it is a little different to the accusations that were previously levelled where the club had supposedly signed an agreement to pay the full release clause.

I expect the new owner is on a learning curve and has had his fingers burnt, now he has 'his' management team together will be a better time to judge him with new acquisitions.

Good, I am glad it’s broken down, this would have been another expensive lesson yet again. Let him finish the season and if we wants to come he does if not it’s definitely not the end of the world.

Respect to those still believing in the new owners to do right by us. I don't share those feelings, and am hoping you guys are right.

I am astounded that so many people know the full details and the nuances of what was discussed between Enzo Fernandez and Chelsea.

Was this to Enzo direct? Via agent or intermediaries? from Todd? In english or spanish? with interpreters or spelled out in alphabet spaghetti?

It is all a load of bollocks - and many on here are buying it!

Any deal worth this much money has layers and layers of complexity - it is never as straightforward as it seems and whilst I do not know, I highly doubt that Chelsea have ever given Enzo a verbal commitment to meet the benfica release clause. That type of thing and conversation just doesn't happen.

Has Enzo been told by others that Chelsea will pay it? Perhaps. 

Has someone said something along the lines of "don't worry about the clause"? again - perhaps.

Has chelsea ever said to enzo "we will buy you and pay the full amount of the release clause? Highly unlikely

That is absolutely in line with reports today. 

80-90m in funds 

Ziyech going in exchange (at value of £20m?)

Plus loaned players.

So yep - £100 m is plausible, depending on exact figures of cash and specific values of players

But seriously, do people believe that successful business people like Boehly and co will go agreeing verbally an amount to then lowball on their agreement? I’m not a businessman nor do I know how multimillion companies do business, but I find it really hard to believe that that’s how they operate. If Boehly gives an verbal agreement I trust that their word is good, he wouldn’t be where he is trying to scam people. It’s more likely chancers pretending to be journalists creating sh*t news to gain their living.
