Funny, I remember people saying "Look at Klopp with Liverpool" when it came to Tuchel, and we sacked him too. How about we do our own thing instead of trying to mimic other clubs? Just trying to be the same as the other club never works.

It just amazes me that Chelsea fans have invented this scenario where Potter has inherited a bunch of mid table dross, or worse. It's like winning the Champions League, Super Cup, Club World Cup, reaching 3 cup finals, and finishing 4th and 3rd under Tuchel never actually happened in the past 16 months. Arteta came into an Arsenal squad that was heading south for years, they had nothing going for them. We aren't where they were when he took over.........well, we are now, because Potter has taken us there, it's a big difference.

Say it louder for those in the back mate 📢

I have no faith he'll turn it around but I can't expect the club to sack him so quick. If there's no improvement by the time the Dortmund game is approaching and he's still in charge I'll be disappointed at the flat-out lack of ambition. Bad appointments can happen (as we know all too well), it's forgivable. Accepting failure isn't.

g squad that is one of the worst we have had at Chelsea for 20 years

Back in August it was a popular narrative it was at worst the third best squad in the league. Now the same squad is one of the worst we've had in 20 years?

So which one is it? Question isn't really for you but it's an annoying narrative that Tuchel was supposedly massively underperforming with this squad but now when Potter is struggling big-time it's a terrible squad all of a sudden.

So excactly what Tuchel had to deal with last season. And he got us to 3rd and two Cup finals.
And apparently even that wasn't enough for some as a few even called for him to be sacked.

What i'm saying is that you can really claim Tuchel underperformed last season and want him to get sacked and now excuse Potter for being in 9th with a squad that's better than last seasons.

Very few people were asking for tuchel to be sacked.

I can't believe people are looking for him to be sacked already!!  He hasn't seen his team for over a month! He hasn't even had a chance to pick anything like his 'best' team, he can't be faulted for the sh*t show that the last few seasons have been concerning new signings, lets face it we don't actually have a very 'good' team!  With the exception of James and a nearly FORTY year old Siva we don't have any world class players!

How many of our team would play in City's first 11?  With the exception of James (who's hardly played for Potter because of injury) I doubt none of them!

Let Potter buy his own players and GIVE HIM AT LEAST until this time next season THEN perhaps we can 'judge' him.

Lets not forget that Tuchel got THRASHED by LEEDS! Soundly beaten by SOUTHAMPTON (the worst team in the league?) and also lost to minnows Zagreb this season!

Its time we face facts - this team is mid table because it has mid-table players,  we've had transfer bans (and worse) and the transfers we've made over the last 3 or 4 seasons have been AWFUL! The team needs a SERIOUS overhaul it needs somebody that knows what a good signing is and it needs TIME!

The cult of Tuchel will not hear you, he was flawless in their eyes.

Should not have been sacked when he was imo, nor should Potter go now. He should however get us playing some actual football that is worth watching.

As it is @Munkworthis getting too many cat naps!

Can you name me a worse Chelsea squad since Roman arrived ???

He needs longer. No Kante,Reece,or Chilly would make a difference to any side. Add the loss of Rudi plus others and replacing them with below average players for crazy money any manager would struggle.

In my opinion TT did a great job, but that's done.

What we need to do is get behind what we have in front of us.

We gave Potter 5 years at least give him till summer 2024. I'm probably in the minority.......

I agree completely, Tuchel shouldn't have been sacked, at the end of the day he had the same issues that Potter has now ie the fact is the team is not 'that' good.  This isn't a quick fix, we are going to need different players and time to sort this one out!  Potter turned Ostersund from village team to Europa League and he has turned Brighton from bottom feeders to challengers for Europe but he didn't do either overnight.

We must (unfortunately) accept the fact that as of right now we are nowhere near 'top 4', I think 8th to 10th is our level,  I doubt we are 'top 4' next year either, I'm hoping however that the season after next we again become competitive.  We have been challengers for so long now that being 'also rans' is a bit of a shock to the ole system but its something that happens to all clubs at some point.

Tomorrow when we play City we are going to be in a situation that so many clubs were in when they used to play us, ie we are the 'no-hopers', ikely to lose and by some margin...............Horrible place to be, I am old enough to remember when things were worse than this though!

To be fair Tuchel didn't get sacked because the team was underperforming.

He got sacked because there wasn't a good fit between him and the owners. The team being a bit sh*t sealed the deal.

A 3-0 thrashing at Leeds, losing to Southampton, this years whipping boys and a loss to minnows Zagreb along with scraping past West Ham and Everton was 'underperforming'

Although arguably when looking at the team and subsequent results was it after all?

Tuchel was suffering from the same issues Potter has been suffering from since - sh*te signings, bang average team.

It's clear the squad don't respect him and either don't understand what he wants or wont. Unless some miracle happens I don't see him lasting and the longer it goes on the longer Chelsea FC are just kicking the can down the road and not re-building. Which we need but not as much as some would have you think.

Excluding the cup runs, Tuchel faced exactly the same problems as Potter. The team was still soft, uncreative, not clinical and prone to errors. There were signs that the squad were fed up with Tuchel as well. Remember the Zagreb game? Terrible. That said, Potter should be doing better than 10th.

Should Lampard Potter stay or go? Social media reacts

Ste, Merseyside: Lampard Potter has been in charge for 12 4 months. He has no excuses for losing 4-1 at home away to Brighton now.

David in Ayr: Frank Lampard  Potter is finished at Everton Chelsea . The squad is poor but should be doing much better. This team is heading down. No fight, no flair, no organization. Dreadful.

Eilah, London: To the people saying sack Lampard  Potter : what will that solve? When you've been going downhill for 10 (?) years why get rid of the person who has only been there for 1/3 ?

UpperGwladysBlue: So much nonsense written about Frank Lampard Graham Potter. A lot of the problems he faces at Everton Chelsea are years in the making before him. He has a net spend that is eight 1.5 times less more than David Moyes and West Ham [are 7 places] below him! Deserves time to get it right.

It's the players - they're not good enough, they don't fight hard enough, they don't run hard enough - most of them are pretty boys who disappear when they get muscled by the likes of NFC and teams like Brighton.

Having said that, Potter will be the one to go - Probably Pooch will come in next and hopefully he will be given time and money to build a new team that will include a bit more grit.

Let's face it the last team we had was built by Mourinho, others have come in since and almost all of them benefited from the work he did... it's over.

It was time to start again when FL gave the academy youngsters a run - and they looked quite good for a while - much better than the shyte we have got now.

We have lost... Alonso, Werner, Rudiger, Christensen and Kante, Chilwell and James are basically lost too atm...

Werner, Rudiger and Alonso might not all have been prolific goal scorers but they all posed a threat... they added an element of danger.

And that is 7 out of 10 outfield players - you cannot change that many players (and the manager) and expect "the team" to perform like nothing has happened.

But why give Poch money and time when you're not prepared to give Tuchel/Potter money and time?  Poch is NOT a better manager than either Tuchel or Potter.  Changing the manager every 3 months will NOT improve the situation, it will make it worse.  What will improve the situation is giving Potter money to buy his own players and time to turn things around.  The problem has clearly been player recruitment, whoever has been making the decisions to buy Lukaku, Werner, Ziyech etc etc are to blame, a COLOSSAL wastage of a COLOSSAL amount of money.

To me it's obvious that tuchel should never have been sacked, and that we've replaced him with someone inferior (which, tbf most are).

But that's done now, and Potter can't be blamed for it. The teams he's produced in the past do show he's a good coach and they suggest he could produce a very good, attractive team here.

At the moment the form is poor, the football is poor, and his line ups and subs appear questionable and contradictory at times. But I think we should avoid getting too granular with these types of criticisms, he obviously sees himself as someone who builds a team and style of play over a longer period, and I think his past does bear that out. We'll be successful under him only if that happens, but I don't think we can hope for success through incredible tactical ideas for one-off games, or audacious game changing substitions.

But honestly I'm pretty worried for him. I'm not convinced that boehly really knows what he's doing, and nor can we be confident he's likely to stick with a manager in such a poor run of form.

But it isn't losing the owner, or losing the fans even that poses his biggest threat. At the moment he has the look and sound of a person who doesn't realise where he is, or the expectations of the players he has. If your players have worked with people like Mourinho, guardiola or tuchel, you can't sound like a PE teacher in a poor catchment area 12 years into a tory government.

You can't say 'the lads gave everything' after huffing and puffing to a barely deserved draw against a side assembled for a fraction of the cost of the team you coached.
