My point is that there was no reason to ever rate Potter, 1 top half finish with Brighton is not some particularly impressive resume.

The idea of Potter as this top manager was an absurd one in the summer before we hired him.

Who was asking for him though? He was being hyped up by pundits, but Newcastle never went for him, Arsenal went with Arteta a few years back, Tottenham went for Conte, United went for Ten Hag. For somebody so sought after and so many positions available at the top end, why did none of them go for him before we did? I also don't see any major team in Europe being interested in him.
