I live in the Wisconsin (Sconnie) lmao I don't have the luxury of speaking to any Burnley fans. 😂 I was telling you to speak with actual Burnley fans if you wanted proof and their perspective, or to look at the thread I posted from a Burnley supporters forum.

Done engaging with this logic chopping. Quote No proof? Talk to any Burnley fan or to save you some hassle, go on any Burnley matchday forums and see what they say on Maatsen's defensive contributions when Burnley weren't whoring the ball in the opposition end. We are certainly not at that level, in the Prem of all leagues, where we can have that kind of luxury.

January 29, 20242 yr Academy talent who wasn't wanted at Burnley or Chelsea, finds home in Bundesliga. Good for him, hope it works out, didnt look likely to happen here at Chelsea, a shame. He may come back and walk into the side but I doubt it. The Bundesliga is two steps off the Premiership so I expect any youngster with drive and ambition to do well there. Harry Kane is making Lewandowski look second rate with his scoring, Werner, Havertz, struggled to adapt from there as has Sancho who has gone back to an easier league to look like a world beater again.
January 29, 20242 yr Good for him he found his league level just like Timo, Harvertz and Sancho who struggled here. Get a good fee for him

It is. Sky Italia show a lot of BL. Speed, intensity and physicality are below the PL, a very long way below the further down the table you go. The likes of Kai Havertz had the time and space to ghost around and do lovely things. No such luxury in the PL. I've seen most of Maatsen's games, he's playing pretty much as he did with Burnley - mostly forward, defensive demands less than onerous - and having a ball.
January 29, 20242 yr Players like Haaland, Kevin De Bruyne, or Rüdiger rose to become global stars after making their mark in England.

But fair point Bundesliga is not a serious league. I watched a few games during covid and I can't believe what I saw. Teams visited bayern and played high line and high press. It was a joke.

February 5, 20242 yr The point is that the rating comments are trying to big him up defensively ... and yet the heat map suggests he was still going forward a lot, albeit less effectively than in the two previous games. Whoscored gave him a team best 7.4 btw, and it does also say he managed 2 key passes, joint 2nd best on the team. Good to see him making a strong start to his loan anyway. You have to give credit for Maatsen trying to make a go of it at Chelsea. He didn't bale out like Livramento or Lamptey. He stuck around to try and fight for a place in the team. It hasn't worked out for him so far, but who knows what might happen if he continues to do well on this loan. He did look a bit lost in the PL, so good that he now has a great opportunity to kick on in a less physical league.
February 5, 20242 yr He's not even as bad as zinchenko is defensively and yet Arsenal seem to manage just fine.
February 5, 20242 yr This guy would keep a fully fit chilly out the side would he? didnt want to be number two so has gone to Germany. good luck to him
