Reasons for optimism

James, Chilwell, Kante, Enzo, Silva, Badiashile.

Now we need another 5 players that can provide the same kind of quality.

Sell the rest and build it back up again.

Ben has been brilliant since he came back 👏

We are not scouse …….

I am quietly optimistic about Tuesday, I mean my mum could probably out  pace Virgil (wasn’t he in the Thunderbirds?) at the moment, but let’s keep it to ourselves,  just in case it goes badly wrong  and kakpooh  has a good one 😂

Funnily enough, Bruno Saltor was the captain and flying right-back for my FM 2006[?] UE Lleida side so naturally I followed his career with interest. I didn't think it would get any funnier than him becoming Brighton's first Premier League captain, but here we are. Hopefully he has a better Champions' League managerial record than I did.

Reason for optimism: I can spend some of my Monday at work reading the 'Potter sacked' essays the various pseuds at Guardian Football have been saving up since the New Year.

In Fofana, James, Chilwell, Enzo, Kante (if he resigns) and Colwill (yes I believe he's that good) we have a genuine elite foundation to build on.

A new keeper, the right managerial appointment and the front line improving (whether that's by coaching or the correct additions) I genuinely believe our path to recovery isn't the monstrous task people believe.

Levi Colwill in our back 3 with Wes Fofana

Andrey Santos hopefully living up to the hype.

And even a blind squirl finds a nut once in a while so surely Todd and co have to get something right eventually. Hopefully it is selecting our next manager.

Hey @axman2526 remember you started this thread you miserable doom mongering prick :good2:Now cheer the f**k up and stop pretending everyone wants to leave the club because we’re sh*t.

Aye that's how bad it got around here that me of all people was trying to pick everyone else up a little. 🤣

Mase has had a good break and is looking better for it.

Least we can expect him to work hard.

Actually I don't disagree there. He will probably get a few starts under Frank and is about the most likely player we have to finally score a goal or 2.

The abuse he received was ridiculous. I still consider him one of our best players.

Agreed. Had a sh*t season but we should not be letting him go.

We want leaders in the team? Pick him and Trev. Is shameful what Potter did to both and Lamps needs to sort that at least.

No European cup next year means no match in midweek. So, we need to work with a squad of 18 players at best. We need a restricted squad, otherwise we will never have a game plan.

Sell Kovacic, Chalobah, Azpilicueta, Pulisic, RLC, Aubameyang, Lukaku, Gallagher, Mount (let's see with the new coach), Ziyech.

Loan either Broja or Fofana, Chukwuemeka, and the other young players. Keep Madueke.

Reason for optimism - we HAVE to score a goal again at some point and I can't wait for that ball to hit the back of the net. Maybe our goals will be like buses and we'll get one followed by loads!

I think part of the trouble is, I've heard it said that "the guys score loads in training". But of course, in training they are scoring against Kepa and Mendy but when it comes to matchday, they have to do it against proper keepers.

Anyway, spring is here and the season will soon be over - thank f**k.
