May 27, 20233 yr After Sunday, we will all feel better. Next season could not be worse even if one try

Apparently his agent is putting pressure on us to pay more of his wage to Inter. I'm hoping that they just buy him in the summer, but the fact another loan is now a possibility meaning he won't be around here is good news for all. Pochettino can find a new striker Get him to train alone until Inter (or someone else) pay his book fee. It's more about the money now after the way both those parties behaved, we need to send a clear message we're not to be messed with.

I am all up for giving him the Malouda treatment, but if the 5 or 10 mill we can take in from a loan fee will help ffp, then I just can’t see it happening.

Pochettino can find a new striker The bottom line is that Lukaku doesn't want to return to Chelsea. He has reiterated it here in Italy only recently. Just as the only reason he came to Chelsea in the first place was because Inter needed the money. He didn't want to leave Inter. He was happy in Italy, he still is. Chelsea failed in their due diligence when buying him in the first place. Given that, Inter have Chelsea over a barrel. They can screw us on another loan deal because they know the alternative - him returning to Chelsea - satisfies no one.

Perhaps but I think we will all be happy provided he's nowhere near Pochettino's new project and the way it's looking this seems more likely that he won't be now as opposed to a couple of weeks ago based on reports. I'm sure we will know more nearer to the time, but I'm optimistic we will get the right striker in the summer and Lukaku will be long gone.

Coincidence, I think not! Going for a looooong lunch with friends tomorrow, planned without checking the fixtures list. BTW what does everybody think: will the players have the gutspe to do the lap of honour?

Fairly sure lunch with pals will be a more enjoyable Sunday afternoon than the alternative! Enjoy. Think you are right re. the shirt. Shirt > traces back to the boy > traces back further to the wife. I KNEW she could be blamed!

May 28, 20233 yr A lot of our players this season have tanked games .. the moment the first goal went in and the moment we had to chase they showed a weak mentality.. they would rather have us belief that they are super talented but are losing because of tactics and lack of motivation.. etc. more and more I see this bunch they don’t look elite level.. if you can’t finish Simple chances for 3 seasons a row.. make simple forward passes or put someone through when 3v3 it just says these are players who have good moments rather than good players..worse is I don’t see them Improving.. Havertz hasn’t since he came here.. mount has stagnated.. Puli hasn’t , ziyech is unrecognisably worse than when we signed him. for me there is a lot of bad attitude and what Matt Law says only reconfirms. From an eye test it is clear to see who are these players but the bigger worry is how do we change that weak mentality or get rid of some of them.

I agree there is no point trying to let ego come in the way of this one.. lukaku was a bad apple and if there was a time to put our foot down was last season. He had a World Cup squad place to fight for .. we should have told him he is going nowhere on the terms inter is offering and make him work inter rather than us for inter. there is no point taking a stand now .. and we will have to look at his current value bake in a max discount of 5/10% and tell inter or lukaku it is this or the highway. On lukaku himself he is a cheat and a player who for me who has been unethical in his relationship with Chelsea. We should also not deal with inter if we really want to make a point.
May 28, 20233 yr So here's a hope that I'm clinging to. Where we moan that we won't be able to shift these players because of the wages they're on, I am hoping that the annual salaries aren't that much higher but the contracts are much longer. So if the players want to go and we want to get rid of them then I'm hopeful that we can sell them as they will just be trading down contract length and not salaries. If they want to hang it out and guarantee the wages for 7 years then there is little we can do other than play hard ball and let them know that they are effectively retiring because they'll never play football again, just earn their wages whilst being on the golf course.

On the bright side - given that this is an optimism thread - Nkunku doesn't need the space Timo did, he's better in tight spaces, better skills on the ball. Plus he can play anywhere across the front.
May 28, 20233 yr the season is over, Im delighted. Reason to be optimistic is that its the summer. Enjoy your holidays everyone - lets see what happens next season, I t cannot be worse than this. Up da chels
May 29, 20233 yr Badiashile - 22 Chilwell - 25 Chalobah - 23 James - 23 Fofana - 22 Hall - 18 Colwill - 20 Gusto - 20 Fernandez - 22 Chukwuemka - 19 Mudryk - 22 Broja - 21 Madueke - 21 Nkunku - 25 The sheer potential in our squad is insane, potentially on the cusp of having a truly excellent squad. We're also bringing in a manager noted for his excellent work with young players and a strong desire to give them opportunities This season has been a complete sh*tshow but it's clear to see there's an excellent foundation to build upon
