March 5, 20233 yr In the last decade 4th place has needed between 66pts and 76pts, average 71pts. That means we need somewhere like 22-27pts from 39pts in our last 13 games to have any chance of top 4. We have 7 home games, 6 of which we would normally expect to win, that's 18pts, and 3 away games we can realistically go for wins against Leicester, Wolves and Bournemouth, 9pts, total 27pts. We have to win the next 3 league games to be in top four contention. Fail to win any of them and our season will be over (CL aside). We have a small chance, at least it's something to go for.
March 5, 20233 yr Love the optimism, but can’t see us getting there. Top 6 and Europa would be good so this group maintains European focus. Failing that, I’d rather avoid conference league altogether and have a solid domestic focus.
March 5, 20233 yr From the looks of it top 4 will only take around 67 points to get this year. We would need 33 points from 39 to get that. I don't think that's possible, even if Potter was sacked tomorrow. Top 6 would be more realistiv, but again under Potter we most likely aren't getting that either
March 5, 20233 yr Your math is off. We would need 37 points to get to 71, not 27. So impossible. Edited March 5, 20233 yr by RomansRoubles

March 5, 20233 yr Missing out on Top 4 is going to be piss poor when you consider the relatively low bar needed to get it this season. Tottenham are sat in 4th right now, and have lost over a third of their games. If Potter had any ounce of a winning mentality we'd have been in contention ... We will need to win at least 11 of our last 13 games to have any chance, and probably all 13. Possible, but highly unlikely ...
March 5, 20233 yr Plan B is winning the CL. Plan C is stitching up the clubs between us and 4th place, so they get banned for the season. Give me some time to work on the details.
March 5, 20233 yr No chance. We need 6 of those above us to be massively worse than we are, and with how bad we are right now, I don't see even one of those teams performing worse than us for the remainder of the season.
March 5, 20233 yr Forget top 4 .. we will be lucky to score as many as pool against Utd till the end of the season.
March 5, 20233 yr Bit ambitious don't you think? 😄 A very much save my job management performance from Potter yesterday, which in reality was only a short term gain that didn't solve much considering our only goal came from a CB and set piece. Shutting up shop in the 60th minute Jesus wept. Going to need to see a night and day difference in the next few weeks to suggest Top 4 as a possibility. I did read a cheeky stat that Brighton beating Leeds under Potter was when it all started to click....
March 5, 20233 yr The sad thing is, that had he been able to get wins against West Ham, Southampton and Tottenham, we'd be right in the mix, level on points with Liverpool and Tottenham, and with a game in hand on the latter. Instead he got outdone tactically by Moyes, a Southampton interim, and the Tottenham assistant coach ...
March 5, 20233 yr No chance, can't see us getting beating more than 2 teams in the top half of the table, the likes of Villa and Wolves are 50-50 game. We may not be losing many games, but winning is a totally different matter
March 5, 20233 yr even last seasons before abra were so bad like this season and the most painful thing that we spend a insane amount of money worst season of the last 25 years
March 5, 20233 yr Without an out-and-out goalscorer, I think it will be very hard to do. Even though we won yesterday, we still struggled to score and only scored from a set piece. But then again, stranger things have happened in football like united losing 7-0 today.

It's been a poor season overall in terms of performance levels and we didn't take advantage.
March 6, 20233 yr Top 4 is gone, putting a dent in Arsenals title charge could still be possible though, if Kante is back to his best.

March 6, 20233 yr top 4 was achievable post the world cup break but was hard. It no longer is. The bigger problem is actually imagining that recent form is going to just change because we have some new players including those coming back from injury.
March 6, 20233 yr Top 4 talk is just lunacy .. I am glad we won a game so aren’t going to be dragged in a relegation scrap.. Gp needs to show consistency in tactics, formations, player selections etc before we can get consistent results. Currently we play like 11 strangers on the park. Edited March 6, 20233 yr by Jangz
