July 8, 20251 yr We've definitely exceeded expectations, so all I can ask from here is for us to give our all in the final. We got a bit lucky by falling onto the easier side of the knockout phase, but every team needs a bit of luck on the way. Catch PSG or Real Madrid on an off day, and you never know what can happen.

That is a significant amount of revenue. Now add a shirt sponsor as we're leaving too much on the table there.Beyond the money, really enjoyed watching the team grow in this tournament, both in performances and spirit. They look like they are enjoying themslves, and playing for one another more than we've seen in a long time. Bottle that spirit up ad bring it back for the start of the PL season please.

Each Way terms (making the final) would already be a winner !Did anyone actually bet on us to win the Club World Cup ?

July 9, 20251 yr I am not sure getting to final in this tourney help us in term of development. You want this team to play more high stakes game against quality opp not teams who is far below our level.

Young players are slowly growing into the big shoes they are viewed to be in. I think this has been very positive for the team. And although Premier League is the main competition we are not realistically challenging to win it for at least a couple of seasons so there will be much more pointless games inside the 38 game season than this tournament for the players themselves. We all know players will concentrate 100% on the UCL games and the Prem game before it and after that game will be heavily affected as we've seen in our past and with other UCL teams from the Prem. That is pretty natural. That is why winning a treble or a double of Prem+UCL is pretty much a unicorn level stuff. In terms of football to me at least this tournament has been very positive. All the teams have fielded more or less the best players and taken the matches seriously. Hats off to south american clubs and their fans as well.

I don't understand this default narrative. We finished 4th last year. Our squad has improved. If we finish 4th on 70+ points next year ill say that's been a failure. We should be aiming for 80+ points.

Winning games, and competitions is always worthwhile. It breeds a cohesive unit and helps develop a winning mentality. This is why Jose always tried his damndest to win the carling cup, even though it was pretty worthless in the grand scheme. It got the players used to big games, brought them into the the thinking/direction, and developed their killer instinct. This CWC is the same. The chance to win and call yourself the best in the world is absolutely important in terms of development.

Our coach is the same. Would be close to a Leicester level achievement if we did. If you look beyond the price of the squad we are a developing side. It would mean we have a once in a lifetime season and other basically fail. Would love to see us compete but I don't see that happening. We have UCL as well. But I love the optimism on that. I think we might end up 4th and around 70+ points. UCL is a major factor to our season. It did exactly that to Newcastle and Aston Villa and probably to Arsenal too.

Develop the core now it looks like we’ve got one and push on for the next 2-3 seasons after that. Similar to what Klopp did at Liverpool.

July 9, 20251 yr The total prize money one team can earn from winning the competition is £92m, down from £97m since the tournament began due to the exchange rate between US dollars and British pounds changing in the weeks since, but Chelsea will earn less than that should they lift the trophy on Sunday.Chelsea's semi-final win over Fluminense was their fifth of six games, having lost one group-stage game, against Flamengo, and took their total earnings for the competition to around £80m.The winner gets another £7.5m on top of that, and the trophy of course. That total will rise by around £7.5m should they win the final, for a total winnings of £87.5m.
July 9, 20251 yr This tournament has bought us one injury prone Fofana (£200k a week wages sold separately).

It wasn't Chelsea's loss to Flamengo that gave us a favourable draw, it was the combination of that and the failure of some pretty heavyweight sides, such as Inter Milan and Man City, to also fall by the wayside. There is always unity. camaraderie and developing understanding and confidence to be gained form competing in any tournament. With the amount of competitions available per season, with squad sizes and the competition for places, and with the underlying hazard of injuries, both short and long term, i would imagine every player relishes every tournament they gat a chance to play in regardless of the perceived standards from the outside. And, should we pull off a miracle and either beat PSG or Real Madrid, nobody around the club will care one hoot about the timing of the event, the quality of the tournament, the tiredness of the players. They know that to win this they have to beat one of the two best club sides in the world at the moment. If they pull this off and have Crystal Palace as their next game after this........bring it on.

Their best two players are now 33 and 34 years old, they are replacing both their full backs, will be trying to bed in a new gk and will be playing Wirtz every week who will be under a tonne of pressure. Arsenal I don't think are signing anyone who is going to change their season. We've 100% improved our number 9 and I'd say we are going into a season now where we have PL experience, quality and depth in every role bar goalkeeper. That's before we sign anyone else. City should walk it but they still have a fumble in them as seen in the CWC.With the squad we will have next season, for me, we should he challenging for the title and anything less without clear context, means Maresca has to go. And I'm the only one on here who likes him
July 9, 20251 yr I'm not expecting a title challenge, but if we barely scrape into the top four again, that would not be acceptable. Consolidation of our top four position should be our expectation, and if we can be in the running for the title, that would be a bonus.A decent showing in the cups, including group stages in the CL, are musts.
July 9, 20251 yr To be honest I still feel we are a couple of players short of winning the title. GK, CB.Not sure what the manager says behind closed doors. I hope he builds these young players up in the dressing room and only try’s to take the pressure of them by talking them down publicly. Not sure the mentality is right there. If you give someone an excuse more often than not they take it. Some of his selections and tactics are still questionable too. Until these things change we are going to come up short of the title.I’m not greedy though. Any trophy is success to me. I’d take the CC and a closing of the gap this season. It’s going to be a first taste of CL for a lot of our players too, and manager, and owners haha the fans are the most experienced people at the club.
