I hope who ever it is is signed to no more than a 3 year contract. Despite best intentions the average tenure of a manager at a premier league club is 2 years and 12 days (down from 4 years in 2012) according to a 2022 BBC article. Signing someone to a 5 year contract in the face of that statistic is just dumb. Better to sign for a rolling 3 years. Ie sign for 3 with an extension for 1 year after each year.

Posted 29 mins ago. Think we’ll find out this week.

So is that a no Zeta did not impress? I knew it was too good to be true, damn Fabrizio getting my hopes up...

Good news for the Tuchel fan boys, after losing top spot and knocked out of two cups it appears he has four weeks to turn it around. Loose the title and he’s out. Hopefully for them Todd hasn’t made his selection by then. 😉

The burning question for me is will @Mod hold his nerve on the P_o_c_h autocerrect if the Sp*** reject gets the job.

 I did think of you when his name was gathering speed!

I think it at least deserves 10 games and some fist pumps towards the Matthew Harding before we can even consider cutting the surname!

That sounds like a "No" then. 😀

What will everyone's expectations be next season then?

For me it almost solely depends on who we appoint and how they manage the job. For example, under Pochettino or a manager of that ilk I would consider top 4 a good result IF it coincides with the implementing of a sustainable looking system and the young players we have looking well developed and coached.

However if we appoint a win now f**k everything after coach like Mou, Alegri or Conte I will expect the title and no excuses.

Think a lot is depended on the summer window. I'd even go as far as saying a solid 3rd place finish + a trophy should be on the cards if things go according to plan in the summer.

I didn't even know that was the case, I've been using his full name for a while so now I can get lazy.

Top 4 would be a huge acheivement given the level of competition. Newcastle will splash far more cash now that they're in the top 4, and Arsenal's young players are only going to get better. Ten Hag's United will most likely improve as well, especially if they get a striker.

Realistically, we have to finish above one of City, Newcastle, Arsenal and United to get top 4 next year. I think top 6 should be the bare minimum expectation, but top 4 is going to be difficult.

To be honest I don't rate Newcastle, United nor Arsenal that highly in terms of "uncatchable". We already have a very strong team which will be even better next season. Especially under a proper coach.

Not being in Europe is absolutely vital. We just need to get this summer right, and it starts with Pochettino having a trimmed down squad at the start of preseason.

As poor as this season has been I do think we have an unbelievable base to build around.

On paper our defense and Enzo is as good as the equivalents our rivals can offer, even City, but a new keeper (or Mendy going back in time) and improving the attack (be it by coaching or acquisition) is vital.

The only issue the attack and how long exactly it'll take for Pochettino to fine tune the likes of Mudryk and Madueke, along with getting Nkunku accustomed to the league. There are then Sterling and Mount to consider and see if they will ever return back to form, along with needing a new ST and deciding what the f**k to do with Shy Havertz.

Top 4 (or at a push 5th) would be a successful season if you ask me.

I put 5th at a push because you can be the 4th best side in the league and get unlucky, but that's the type of thing we'd only really be able to assess after the dust has settled on the campaign.

I don't expect a miraculous turnaround, whilst I agree we have an incredibly promising squad there are bound to be teething problems, and there's no guarantee we'll address all our needs in the summer and adequately ship out enough fringe players.

For me it boils down to 3 things. If we do those 3 things we should challenge for the top 4 and have a decent domestic cup run.

1. The manager, even if we bring in a manager who expect titles from the get go we won't win it. Under a Mou, Conte, it will take a season or two to get going. You need something special to beat City. So I think any manager with this amount of investment that we have done should challenge for top 4 and domestic cups without Europe.

2. Striker - Im not asking for there Harry Kanes of this world even though it would be nice. I just think we need to sign someone capable of 15 goals a season and who's a strong reference point to our attack. Who? No idea.

3. Finally we have to sell which we all know anyway. We can't afford to be fussy about it, get rid of players you don't want even if you have to take sh*t money for them. We don't want to go into next season with a bloated unhappy squad.

Maybe another thing, we should sign 2-3 players max next season. Hopefully the board has learnt about stockpiling all these players.

Wow we have become like Spurs...slowly. We definitely must win a trophy. A domestic one. No excuses

I think if Pochettino managed a team that wasn't Tottenham, particularly outside the Premier League, and had a similar record. There would be more people willing to give him a chance, I think some people can't look past the Tottenham job.

He's certainly not my first choice, but I would be willing to give him a go considering the options we have at the moment. Doesn't look like Nagelsman is going to be the one, or Zidane unfortunately.

Hope not with Enzo, would be such a lazy move moving him to that position and would be a total waste.

One of those is me! And yes, I would be super hyped if Zidane were to become our manager, the league would be richer cause of his presence alone.

But sure, Pochettino looks like a decent manager for a full restart that the new owners are doing, Roman would have kept Tuchel and after him if things were to have gone south anyway he most likely would have tried to get a big name like Zidane.

There is no need for that at all, Enzo does his role perfectly fine. If anything, it would be interesting to see what Pochettino would do with the likes of Mount and Gallagher.

Stellini sacked by Spuds.

Here it comes boys and girls. Pochettino's withdrawal from the process within 48 hours? What do we reckon? It'll be Frank next year again as no other bu88er will want it at this rate.

In what world would Pochettino ever want to work with Levy and his less than desirable ambitions again?
