That said, it's probably worth noting that 50% of Palmer's assist tally for the season came in a 15-minute spell against Wolves (and they were all for Madueke). Palmer would have more assists if Jackson would convert his chances. Palmer put a perfect cross onto Jackson's head and he messed it up, like he always does.
January 14, 20251 yr We really should be looking to sign a reliable striker this window. Liam Delap might be it but he’s still young and that comes with risk. I’m starting to think we should just go all out for Osimhen. People say he has a bad attitude, Drogba had abit of an attitude and there were always rumours about him wanting to leave, we put up with him and reaped the rewards massively. I get that football’s very different now with players in the spotlight more often, but it’s worth the gamble imo, looking at how dire we are at taking chances.

We have to do something if we have any ambitions of finishing in the top 4. Do nothing and we'll have more games like we've seen in the last few weeks and we'll get overtaken by more teams in the table. The chance he missed when the keeper was on the floor inside the goal was ridiculous, even by his standards. Cole Palmer deserves better - he'll move to another club soon if we don't take the striker position seriously. So many matches where we should be out of sight by half time and end up dropping points. If you want to seriously challenge for titles buying unproven strikers and hoping they turn into Haalands straight away is not the way to go.

Basically it's saying Jackson had enough big chances to have scored 8 goals in those 5 matches - he didn't even score once.
January 15, 20251 yr If he scores that solo run that hits the post are we saying he had an ok game? I am so frustrated as he tries his guts out. His run to beat 3 men and the pass for the assist for Palmer was absolute class. Then next chance takes a horrible bobble, then his header is going in and is a reasonable save… then hits the post. f**k he’s just got to start finding the net. I truly feel for the guy.

January 15, 20251 yr The good, the bad, the ugly first goal was the sort of thing Henry would do week in week out with his control and movement and passing. Palmers finish had me grinning ear to ear. Brilliant play and pass for Palmers goal. Honestly, thought this was a brilliant, brilliant goal. Didt stop all game and is relentless in pressing. The bad. hit a post and ballooned one high. the ugly. that headed chance. Too timid putting his head on ball and not really a surprise anymore the way the game is going with head injury awareness, but centre forwards stick the ball in the net with their heads. The follow up a snatched/ half chance so forgivable, a player on a lucky streak sees it go in. The first manager to have him play in a Mane-type role when he at Southampton/ Liverpool/Bayern probably turns him into a world-class forward who could probably move along the front line depending on the game. His misses are noticed more becuase others simply dont shoot. should have had a hat trick tonight.

He keeps the opposition's centre halfs busy, he can press effectively, he can take the ball on the half turn, he has a respectable number of goal involvements. Unfortunately he is a poor finisher, decision maker and is prone to brainlessness. Given the options available, an increasingly underwhelming Nkunku and a naive Guiu, I can see why Maresca persists with him. Ideally we would have a proper centre forward and play Jackson on the left where he would be most effective. A question for you. Is it acceptable to repeatedly call him a c**t and appear to celebrate his misses more than his goals? He was awesome last night..... the shot he hit into row Z from 3 yrds out was a particular highlight.... Usually he would have put it over the stadium roof, so row Z was an improvement.... The c**t is useless.

On next weeks edition he is the hybrid of Shearer, Zola and Cantona!

Talk about cherry pick one stat to try and make a false point. Oh, and it was 22.73% shot conversion, not chance conversion. His goals per game and per minutes played is very good. The only doubt for me is he has no EPL experience but, as a goal-scoring centre-forward, I would take him over Jackson in a heartbeat.

January 15, 20251 yr yeeeeaaaahhhh.... jackson played a big part in us not winning that game yestrday
January 15, 20251 yr Jackson really should be burying the very clear chances he has been getting, the guy needs proper competition. Nkunku and Guiu aren't it. We need a proper centre forward, not some converted winger / No.10 nonsense.
January 15, 20251 yr I stil think that it would make a world of diference if we go and buy Šeško and let them fight it out for starting no. 9.
January 15, 20251 yr When will we learn. Us relying on Jackson, is like Liverpool pinning all their hopes on Darwin Nunez. But Liverpool saw his short-comings so have a sh*t load of other options (and they have a great keeper too). All the time we insist on playing Jackson as our main striker and the clown Sanchez in goal, we will continue to fail.

We are the Palmer and Jackson show when it comes to goal scoring, with very little contribution from anyone else. If either of them falls off, then we really struggle. (Noni in third place with 5, of which 3 came in our 2nd game of the season against Wolves. Very little output from him since.) I think we have some potentially good goal-scoring options in other positions within the squad to help address this but Maresca won't use them (e.g. Nkunku, Felix, Guiu, Chukwuemeka, Casadei, Disasi, Veiga, Chilwell), plus he sent Sterling, Chalobah and Santos on loan, all of whom have more goals in them in their position than the players he retained)
January 15, 20251 yr I'd like to see a 433, with Jackson left, Palmer right, and a striker up top, and a midfield of Lavia, Enzo & Caicedo. I think Jackson would get far more goals compared to playing directly up front.
