Nicolas Jackson - striker

Yep - a very sensible chap....until Jackson pushed him to the edge, to the point that he is now mostly irrational.

All you criticising me for being a c**t towards Jackson - should pause for a second, and ask yourself the question "How rubbish of a player and human is Jackson if he has pushed the once rational NNNJ to such depths of despair?"

Maybe there was somw truth about Astrid being either your girl or... your lady....

I will donate 10 Great British Sterling Pounds to the forum running costs if the author of the above is correctly identified. This is taken from the legendary Torres - "The Groundhog Day Thread" at 10/12/2012 at 19.17 around the rime that Torres was accurately being referred to as the footballing equivalent of a clitoris.

To be fair to Jim he was absolutely bang on the money with his first sentence in 2012.

" I am not expecting Torres to come good for CFC"

Question is, has he got it correct again? What do you think?

He did come good eventually! Are you still going into players no longer at the club or even playing football! 👀

Other than Palmer or Reece @just, is there anyone at the club you currently rate?

Torres came good? When did that happen? Isolated moments, OK, one of which was very important. But to say he came good in a Chelsea shirt is wildly overreaching.

As for current players I rate; Caicedo, Lavia, Fofana, Colwill, Chukwuemeka. Also, for me Gusto was a very good player last season. But the way Maresca is using him has finished that. Others like Madueke, Sancho, Fernandez, Achampong etc have high potential IMO which may or may not be realised.

But what about Jackson, Mod. Do you think he is a good enough centre-forward to get us back among the elite?

Madueke has slipped into the potential category @just?

Thought you rated him higher than that?

I assume you mean his oft-forgot opener in the Europa League final?

Yep, he has Nibs. He has to add consistency to his game. I'm not sure Maresca is the best manager to get that out of him though.

Mustn't forget THAT corner he won in Munich.

I think Jim's second and third sentences were equally bang on the money.

Jackson has strengths. He keeps the opposition's centre halfs busy, he can press effectively, he can take the ball on the half turn, he has a respectable number of goal involvements.  Unfortunately he is a poor finisher, decision maker and is prone to brainlessness.

Given the options available, an increasingly underwhelming Nkunku and a naive Guiu, I can see why Maresca persists with him. Ideally we would have a proper centre forward and play Jackson on the left where he would be most effective.

A question for you. Is it acceptable to repeatedly call him a c**t and appear to celebrate his misses more than his goals?

Beyond ridiculous at this point. Everton away he can't score a tap in. Palace away, Fulham at home, Bournemouth at home, everytime we are one goal up and misses tons of easy chances to kill the game off. I don't want to go into hatred territory, but game after game I feel I am heading towards that. It's way too many chances and easy ones.

Needs a run out of the team. His assist was excellent and I thought it would give him some confidence but they were two absolute sitters he missed. I still wouldn’t give up on totally even though he’s cost us badly the last few weeks.

No doubt he's had a shocker for sure but we all know what we have, can't really bring myself to keep bemoaning him. My issue is more the overreliance on him and Palmer to get us a result to be honest.

Jackson assisting Palmer is now the second-most productive goalscoring combination in the league this season. Clearly the answer all along was for the two to swap positions.

You joke but when he drops deep, holds up the ball and links up the play he's actually very good. The issue is he turns in Timo Werner when he gets in front of goal.

In return Palmer has only assisted Jackson once. That said, it's probably worth noting that 50% of Palmer's assist tally for the season came in a 15-minute spell against Wolves (and they were all for Madueke).

Nicolas Jackson has 0 goals from 8.6 xG against Everton, Fulham, Ipswich, Crystal Palace and Bournemouth.

Get Osimhen in, or give Nkunku a proper run in the team.

What does 8.6xg mean? Is that high? How does that compare to anything else? I don't understand this xg stuff without more context.

Jackson is bad at finishing but Noni is worse.

I felt he played better today than he has for a long time. Really great work in the build up for Palmer's goal. But when chances came he proved, yet again, he isn't a natural centre-forward or a natural finisher. It's criminal how dreadful he is in the air. Heading is a skill that can be taught and learned. What is Maresca doing in training to improve Jackson's aerial ability? f**k all it seems.
