Radical thought I know but I have seen other CFs manage it. Never bothered VVD or Konate in the slightest in the air and rarely engaged in any meaningful physical battles either. A lot of times he didn't even challenge. But he scored. Therefore he played well. The equivalent logic, Sanchez made some saves, therefore he played well. It's that simples. Brought us back into the game and its his job to do that. We then conceded 3 mins later. We really didnt create very much at all second half. Certainly didnt work the keeper. On a better day, his goal would have earnt us a point. Anyhow, I did enjoy his goal celebration and his card for trying to put Salah off for the Pen. Say what you want about him, think he likes playing for us. Thumbs up from me.

Why didn’t our other attackers create more chances, Palmer, Noni and Sancho. It was our DM who created a chance for him. Liverpool completely blocked he centre of the pitch he had 2 defenders around him he had to drop to the half way line to get space so exactly what else was he supposed to do?

October 20, 20241 yr The fact is he has 5 goals in 8 matches and 3 assists so you could say that on average since the PL season started he had some end product in every match. So he's clearly showing some improvement from last season, particularly in this role of a poacher which is exactly what we needed, he isn't going to magically become a complete striker but he is contributing to our end product so no problems there we just need Madueke to become a top player which in my opinion is definitely possible.

October 21, 20241 yr The positives - He took his goal well. It was a well timed run and good finish. Unfortunately - as with the majority of his goals, it ended up meaning nothing to the overall result. The Negatives - everything else. For 96min he was absolutely anonymous. He contributed nothing in attack, created nothing, won zero (or very few) headers, his link up play was poor. He got another stupid yellow for his braindead f**kwittery. Other than the goal - did he have a shot? He is the epitome of running around like a headless chicken. How he stayed on the pitch for the entire game is beyond me. He is not a player that has either the skill, guile or football iq to unlock a game like this, or change games positively on a regular basis. As soon as things don't go in his favour (i.e when defenders do their job) he loses his head and reverts to stupidity. Unfortunately, he is bad at this as well. He seems to wind himself up, more than opposing defenders. The joke is stale. I am tired of it. Please just drop him and give Chris a run up front.
October 21, 20241 yr Mate, he had very little service and Liverpool changed tactics. He's perfect for running off the defenders shoulders but Liverpool went for the low block more often instead of their usual press. There were a few times he tried to play 1-2s with sancho, only for sancho to just play it back to gusto, caicedo or even colwill instead. Jackson wasn't the worst on the pitch, far from it actually. Only link up play he did was on the half way line because the play was slow. But the first and only pass to him running off the defenders and he gets his goal! If you're this critical of jacko, and he wasn't the worst on the pitch, then how bad do you think the others played, lol. Palmer really annoyed me too btw...how many times did he link up with anyone but Noni. He has the freedom of the number 10 position but he was always to the right of center. Palmer had a really off day imho, and it happens, he didn't move across between the wingers and the striker. If he alternated a bit more between his strike partners, I really think jacko would have had more goals, even noni and sancho would have had chances too (neto when he came on especially). Anyway back to jacko...you're being very harsh mate. All our lot made mistakes, or weren't at it during that match but jacko definitely wasn't the worst.

October 21, 20241 yr Yeah I have no issues with Jackson. None of our attackers could create anything so I’m not really sure why he’s being singled out, I mean he scored to get us back in the game. I think everybody should be impressed with how fast he is progressing as a player. He’s getting assists and goals consistently, the rest of his game will come in time but as long as he’s scoring I’m happy with him. I can see the frustration with his play but he did set up a few really good chances, for example the backheel to Neto was sublime. Get behind him and support him, he has the potential to become a very good striker based on his development since last season.
October 21, 20241 yr Very strange, I don't recall Nkunku getting this much negative feedback when he did nothing v a worse team in Genk.

October 21, 20241 yr Loved the fact that VAR came to our rescue to validate Jacko's goal which by the way was nicely taken not sure he gets that last season, the kid has improved.
October 21, 20241 yr Took his goal well. Otherwise didn't really get involved. He didn't even try to challenge in the air most of the time, just let the defenders jump while he stood there.

The question we should be asking is why are we trying to throw balls up the pitch for VVD or Konate to win. We saw it towards teh end of the second half trying to float balls over the CB's for Enzo (lmao) to run on to. We either need to play out from the back or hit the wingers. Prime Drogba would have had a tough day against VVD and Konate on his own.

Jackson at 187cm is on a hiding to nothing in an aerial battle against two blokes who are significantly taller than him, not to mention better rated in the air. Konate is 98th percentile on FBREF for winning aerials, and Van Dijk is 96th percentile, as measured against all centre backs in the top 5 leagues. Pumping long balls at them is a complete waste of time. What we should have done is play more balls in behind, like the one he scored from, to play to Jackson's strengths.

It is very apparent and sickens me to the pits. We are all Chelsea fans and should judge all our players fairly but there's a pattern that has developed of singling out particular players. Even when he does well, he gets criticised. Just pathetic.

October 21, 20241 yr Honestly thought he hit it wide when he scored. Didn't realize it had actually gone in.
October 21, 20241 yr I haven't done the maths but we could well have a scenario whereby Nico Jackson indirectly covers the entire forum running costs for the season ! 20 goals, 25 missed sitters, 10 yellow cards, 20 offsides, 5 shags with only fans hookers ... this could be a predictions thread all of it's own LOL

Agreed, only Jorginho deserved such criticism.
October 21, 20241 yr He's got huge potential, he is not the first number 9 to have a slow start to his Chelsea career. Even Drogba was slow to start and had his frustrating moments......., not saying he is a Drogba, he clearly isn't quite that good, however I bet if he was sold to another prem team he will come back to haunt us.
October 21, 20241 yr 14 premier league goals in his first season with no penalties, and now 5 from 8 games this season He might be frustrating but the numbers don't lie. He's only going to get better at 23

It’s so counterproductive, some of our fans make us easy for opposition fans and pundits to slag our players off.
October 21, 20241 yr N'kunku is a better player. More skilful, smarter, better movement, better finisher. Personally, I'd rather we lost Jackson than N'kunku. If he ain't gonna play N'kunku will leave.

Despite the good start Sancho has made, just think Nkunku would carry more threat. Sancho is good for retaining the ball in the final third is how I see his loan working out a bit like WIllian was for us, carrying the ball up the pitch or playing out up it.
