I mean even Silva didn't cover himself in any glory. Looked like a deer in headlights for Antonio's goal.

I'd like to see Disasi + Colwill together in a back 4 before making any judgements on them when they are playing in a system that baby sits Silva.

Looks fine on the ball. But the few times he's been tested defensively so far, he's looked slow and not read the game very well. Strikes me as a massive panic buy after FOfana got injured.

Think he'll end up being a decent squad option and injury cover. Silva must be running out of Elixir of Life soon, Colwill and Badiashile look like good prospects and Fofana may still work when he comes back from injury. Don't see him being a nailed on starter but I don't think we need him to be.

When Silva is out of the picture, in theory we'll have Disasi and Fofana for RCB, and Colwill and Badiashile for LCB, though I'm half expecting C & B to be a starting pair with one of them on the right. That's not a bad quartet in my opinion.

I'm assuming Chalobah will end up being sold.

Or rather we will have Colwill and Badiashile for LCB, Disasi for RCB and Fofana for the treatment room.

Knowing our luck

Probably an unpopular opinion but he reminds me of Rudiger at the same age; with the right coach, he can and will be a superstar defender. Two poor 30-minute spells don't make him a bad defender nor is it enough to make any valid claims about his ability to read the game.

Virgil van Djik scored a winner against Everton on his Liverpool debut, only to make a stupid mistake and gift a winning goal to Swansea in his next game.

Do you think Disasi and Colwill ready to play without silva?

They've conceded 4 goals in 2 games baby sitting Silva.

I thought silva was excellent against pool. West Ham 2nd goal was partly his fault but it is as expected, when he play as cover cb he is still excellent but the moment he is asked to engange it is over.

Thought he's looked better recently. Still not sure he's a massive upgrade on Chalobah but certainly better than Koulibaly.

Honestly think he's only in the team cause of his height and physicality. His passing is fine but nothing to write home about, certainty does not make up for his defensive liabilities.

It's clear to see he is not starter quality but don't have much of a choice at the moment.

Agreed.

He's a fine passer from the back and is a aerial presence, but he's so naïve defensively. Average IQ.  Chalobah is a better one on one defender than him.

Need to find a way to have Badiashile + Colwill together as a pairing.

Might be a small thing to some but seeing him laughing and smiling with Watkins as soon as the whistle went really riled me up.

All these new signings, this is just a job for them not a club they love. That's why its always important to have an older spine in the squad to remind the new players what it means to play for Chelsea and the expectations. Terry would have bollocked anyone laughing after another embarrassing loss.

Thing is he actually had a fairly good game but after seeing that my blood was boiling. Complete lack of awareness.

This thread is oddly quiet for someone that has played every game so far.

Have we all accepted he is just good back up and won't be anything more?

Need a full season to judge him fairly.

So far so good. Not the greatest defender but his passing and aerial dominance a massive bonus.

Yeah he’s good enough. Not a world beater but not everyone in the team needs to be

He’s a solid 7-8 out of 10 at the moment. Maybe we’re being a bit harsh on him as it’s still a new club and league in a slightly under performing side. Be interesting once we gets Reece next to him, albeit for a game or two!

Stepping back, I actually don’t know our best CB pairing. I’m inclined to say Badiashile and Colwill eventually as they have  all the attributes and jury still out on Fofana for me (if he comes back), but two left footers raises an eyebrow (yet two right footers doesn’t for some reason).

He makes some errors especially in 1v1 situations.. cost us a few goals but really handy on set pieces.. is really slow though..

I thought he looked complete toss when he first started but he's looking pretty solid. Will be interesting to see how he does against the better teams after the international break.
