September 24, 20232 yr We are in a relegation battle, never thought I'd be saying that again. Edited September 24, 20232 yr by Trueblu77

This squad is about 3 years away from even thinking about competing for the league. From what we're seeing this squad looks barely good enough to compete in the PL. I'd be relieved if we avoid relegation.

September 24, 20232 yr we wont go down , but this will take a few seasons b4 we compete for title. which i said at the end of last season.

September 24, 20232 yr Why didn’t Palmer start??? He’s offered more in attack than anybody else today! Christ what a mess we’re in. I think if it wasn’t for the red card we may have nicked a 1 - 0 win. Despite the loss i saw alot of positive signs. I thought we were decent up to the red card, we were playing more direct and managed to find space behind Villa’s defence. Mudryk looks lively, need a run of games. Disasi grown onto me a lot since the red card, giving it everything. What was Broja doing, jogging around like it’s nothing? Didn’t he realise we were losing and only had 5 minutes left? Why wasn’t he chasing down the ball? Irritated me.

I guarantee you not one young player Bohely has signed will be at the club will be here the next time we finish in the top 4. Not only are we a long way from potential competing most of the young players don't have the talent to ever develop into options for a top half side. Edited September 24, 20232 yr by Whats_The_Mata?

I honestly can't see where a win's coming from. Don't like to be pessimistic but we're up sh*t creek without a paddle. Or a boat.

Won't drop Gallagher despite him being toss, plays a CB at left back when we have 3 left backs on the bench, Sterling is living off those first couple of games, Jackson is making Morata look like prime Hasselbaink. He's sticking with a system that is under delivering and it's baffling.

September 24, 20232 yr I'd like to see Enzo play alongside Caicedo with Palmer ahead of them. I think we need to stick with Sterling and Mudryk and then it's a toss up between Jackson and Broja. The back 4 should be solid if we'd just play Chilwell at LB
September 24, 20232 yr 1 minute ago, alwayshopeful said: grow up . stop making statements that you are highly unlikely and at least you cant possibly know. Ironic. Given just how highly unlikely it is that players as poor and untalented as Jackson, Madueke, Mudryk etc will ever develop into top 4 calibre players. The odds really aren't in the clubs favour. Buying a bunch of crap and struggling young attackers and thinking they have a decent chance of developing into top players is genuinely the most moronic and foolish transfer strategy I can recall any football club ever attempting it's so bad I just wish Arsenal or Spurs had attempted it because I wouldn't be able to stop laughing. September 24, 20232 yr I am very ambivalent at the moment, I am not sure what to think. i am not really bothered about a relegation battle and results week in week out progress worries me, but it is still very early, and with no European football this season I would say we have a chance now, with low expectations to work the team into something special Blaming, the owners, the manager, individual players or tactics at the moment is pretty pointless. only thing I would really bother me if they did not work hard, they could be relegated as long as they come off that pitch battered and bruised, then fine. The odds of us going down are higher than Leicester's odds when they won the title. We have been one of the worst teams in the league since January, the teams that were worse have been relegated.

There’s a very real possibility we finish in the bottom half again. These are times where you need experience and character to drive the squad forwards. We were so spoiled in the 00’s - half of the starting XI were international captains. Now our youngsters are being asked to see Conor Gallagher as the source of inspiration. It’s a joke.

I don't see anything wrong with what he said. If any of these young players step up to a high level, most obvious ones being Enzo and Colwill, why would they stick around in a team that could potentially get relegated this season? We won't get top 4 this season, that's for sure, and if we do survive, why would we make it next season? These players won't want to wait around, they will be putting in transfer requests. Football careers are short, they will want to be playing Champions League football by the end of next season. If they're not, then they will ask to leave. September 24, 20232 yr Think if we hadn't gone down to 10 men, we would have got the 0-0 we deserved!

It can work, provided you have senior players and a solid spine as a foundation to build on. Unfortunately we clearly do not.
