I like how the ‘one tricky pony’ no plan b thing was being used by the De Zerbi detractors and the same thing is being said about Poundland Pep. Swear people just don’t like De Zerbi physiognomy, probably the soul patch/goatee thing.

For me, not wanting De Zebri was a result of PTSD: Post Traumatic Seagull Disorder

Chelsea have studied how Arteta eventually thrived after leaving Guardiola’s staff and hope Maresca can flourish in the same way. (@kierangill_DM @TomCollomosse) #CFC

Are you f**king kidding me? It betrays such a surface-level understanding of the sport.

It also shows that no matter what our weird combination of players manages to achieve, they will always, constantly be undermined by the utter cretins in our management structure.

They should all be bound, gagged, and never be allowed to make a single decision about the footballing side of the club for the next decade. After that they should f**k off forever.

Absolutely f**king ridiculous. Do you think these idiots even know where Leicester is?

🚨 Chelsea's appointment was led by Winstanley and Stewart, who have built up an instant rapport with Maresca.

So yeah he is doomed then. Those two could not change a light bulb between them.

Arteta thriving eh? Won the FA Cup with Emerys side vs Lamps and what else has he done? Been Spurs in red basically.

But where he is excelling is making the Arsenal owners money.

I hope this isn't real and not their actual reasoning because that is just a lazy reason to appoint a manager. Sure Arteta is doing well but that doesn't mean every one of Pep's understudies are going to do well.

Literally if we'd just waited 6 months for Leicester to get bent over in the Prem all this Maresca hype would be out the window

Then again Kompany managed to secure the Bayern job, so maybe not

I wonder whether its a new trend to hire manager's based on personality, style and stats vs their resume. Ten years ago Kompany wouldn't even come close to getting the Bayern job.

Thinking about it logically, they should have appointed Dr. Kildare, Florence Nightingale and Doogie Howser MD.

If we can manage to keep less than a dozen players off the injury list we might have a chance

How dare you. Of course they know where Lysester is. It's about 40 clicks North of Woor- chester.

They'll all have to be put on a Berocca diet just to stay awake through training. Our two new CBs will be Narco and Leptic.

Leicester are my second team so I've watched them quite a lot under Maresca.

I'm not sure I can say anything that hasn't already been said, but in summary Leicester were breathtaking at the start of the season, with Maresca's free-flowing style of play bamboozling and overwhelming the relatively low quality teams of the Championship. Once the element of surprise accompanying his system wore off however, it was startling just how easily this low quality opposition were able to frustrate Leicester and cause their effectiveness thus results to fall off a cliff.

Maresca then took an incredibly long time to adapt his tactics to overcome these issues, meaning Leicester's previous huge lead at the top of the Championship was almost completely blown. Only some slight tweaks at the very last moment saved their season.

To me, his appointment by Chelsea just feels emblematic of a wider infatuation with talent rather than proven class. He could probably be a very good manager one day, but he currently lacks the experience to have refined his skillset into that of an elite manager today.

Great post. I'm just spitting bile at any given moment so thanks for this much better summary.

Genuinely not sure I can go through another year of this interminably boring sh*te football. I'll always be a Chelsea fan, its in my blood, but I absolutely despise the w*nkers in charge of our club now. This aimless Maresca sh*t football will bore the t*ts off me and the media will constantly be patronising us all with "the project will take time", whilst secretly laughing up their sleeves as these hopeless clowns lurch us further and further into crisis.

Surely this is the bottom now, isn't it

“Was always told it will be *minimum* three-years guaranteed, in other words, longer than Pochettino's. But they really back Maresca, so could well be five.“

@benjacobs

Scary! Really back a manager they’ve probably had limited interactions with and has no premier league experience. Throw in Leicester's wage bill and nearly blowing it and we have a quite concerning situation. You’d think he’d have to get top 4, maybe even a trophy out of the two domestics and conference league.

However, I’ll back him, whilst praying the endless possession has a the odd goal for entertainment.

I am pretty sure I won't listen to his pressers that much. His personality is so flat. Watching Chelsea coach pressers is one of my hobbies. Tuchel was very good. Poch okay.

Man-City - Bald head

Liverpool - Bald head

Man-Utd - Bald head

Notts Forest - Bald head

Everton - Bald head

Chelsea - Bald head

Not as many as I thought, suppose it’s the Pep effect, giving a false sense of numbers.

It's nailed on to work @PloKoon13. I can totally see their logic. Of course if you have had one iconic, ground-breaking manager, (of his time), then of course the apprentice, who learned under him, will be equally successful.

We know because Andre Villas Boas proved that.

Clever people these Americans.
