Just a month ago, Maresca is an elite coach. Now he is not good. What change?

"Football is all about players. We can have the best ideas, but if you don't have the players you struggle. When Romeo is not there, we need to manage. We are a better team with Romeo. Not only with Romeo... Reece James. It's all about players."

I get your point Bob, but we shouldn't fall apart missing just Lavia though (being without James is BAU)

I think the biggest difference recently is this tactic of having full backs joining the attack centrally rather than just inverting into DM alongside Caicedo. It leaves us completely unbalanced, especially when Fernandez wanders off as well, and even more vulnerable to being exploited at the back. Plus it means good chances are falling to players who are least likely to take them.

More and more team try to jam us in the middle and we struggle. Having Lavia who can beat his man on half turn will help, having Fofana/James who can carry the ball from CB will help.

Because we dont have those, we play more 316 (even more player in the middle) or 415 (wide build up).

Luckily the vibe on Maresca being very good tactician is still strong. 415 is the same tactics that many here bashed poch/lamp with. Dinosaur/road runner football.

Two games.

I'd begrudgingly accept all this he's no good, we should have kept Chalobah etc if it was actually being spouted while we were winning games, but it doesn't.

In today's presser I believe!

I've watched it and he didn't say anything like that, at no point did he downplay us being in a fight for top 4.

Not sure why sconnie made something like that up so he can be outraged.

We're falling apart now? Man so much hyperbolic nonsense in this forum the past week.

We got a draw away to Everton who are very difficult to beat the past month or so, was a good game.

Beaten late on by Fulham, we played ok but there was a big drop off in the 2nd half.

Beaten away to Ipswich, created a sh*t load of chances, didn't take them. Lost to a shocking penalty decision and a shocking Disasi mess up.

This isn't us "falling apart".

Nowt except this place's propensity for simplistic knee-jerk reactions.

Maresca is absolutely sh*te at managing a game of football. Has zero clue how to change things up when a team puts us under any pressure, he's just waiting for something to happen. Late subs again that were never going to change the way the game was going. Mediocre coach at this level and he's getting found out in every game of late.

Not long ago I was praising his HT talks and changes, ever since then he just waits till 70th min before making subs or doing any changes.

Game management has fallen off a cliff.

2pts out of 12 against 4 really bad teams(points-wise)

This is us falling apart

I don't believe we make top 5 with him, and we may also have a poor CWC.

But you also cannot trust anyone Winstanley and Stewart bring in. Sack him, or don't, either way I don't think we will have a good enough manager for what we fans want for our team.

Not a chance.

If Poch got a full season, he will too. Then the clueless SDs will use their brainless data-approach to asses things and we go again in the summer.

Decisions need to be made in January. We need players.

He isn't trusting the bench anymore and is running Enzo/Caicedo to the ground. Jackson continues to stink up the pitch, punishment free. The system is reliant on he and Palmer so his poor performances are highlighted.

We've seemingly solved our CB issue with Acheampong looking the part, with Anselmino on the fringes.

I’m not concerned with Maresca, not that long ago he was being praised in here (look around November and early December), and he knew how to change things and the ht talks seemed good. I’m more concerned with how the board is building the team, which is quite unbalanced, and not very good in certain positions, tbh. Any other coach will fail too with this team.

If we don't get a new striker I fear we won't make top 4. The good with Maresca today was he learnt that we didn't need to invert the CBs and it worked well in the first half. The bad was in the second half we didn't change anything when Palace had, then Maresca waited until the 80th minute to make a sub when we have good players on the bench.

They will, as Winstanley and Stewart will have appointed them, same people dealing with building the squad.
