Imagine spending 330m on midfielders and midfielder is still a need

Spent a bunch on defenders yet we still need better ones too. Have like 16 keepers on our books, not one of them is Europa League calibure even etc.

I give them a pass on CB. I think we have a good group (will be even better with Chalobah).

Sanchez is bang average but he was a cheap signing, doesn't matter.

Midfield is bizzare.

Cannot say I like the way he chose to defend Sanchez.

Just come out and say something like "We have complete trust in Robert, he is our number 1, mistakes happen its part of the game bit we trust in his quality" etc.

Don't go digging out other players to make Sanchez look better.

Even more so he makes himself look clueless by saying Sanchez has only made 4 mistakes. If he is pointing out the "many times" Caicedo has misplaced a pass how many times has Sanchez passed straight to the opposition or straight out of play?

This adds further context to it.

Basically he's as good as saying he's the best of the bad bunch (stating the obvious) but long term he wants something more.

That's all well and good, but I stand by that he should not be throwing other players under the bus to defend Sanchez right now.

Can easily do that without dragging other players in to it.

Alternative subliminal message take

"Hey Eghbali, my best goalkeeper sucks, my best striker can't score, my best winger can't cross, and my best midfielder keeps losing the ball ... not my fault we keep dropping points ... get me some better players please !"

Lol yeah could be, but going after Caicedo, then only player in the argument for best player so far alongside Palmer, seemed a bad call.

I guess he is probably not allowed to say anything negative about Fernandez and Lavia is always injured so perhaps left him no choice, if this is what he was going for.

Useless coach. Laughable that he was given the job. Absolute jokers running this club.

Now now, I have been told by a reliable source it is ridiculous to think Maresca is not good enough for the job and should be let go.

The players don’t even look bothered they lost. We mock Arteta but atleast he created a standard.

Other than James and Caicedo, I have zero attachment to any Chelsea player. They don’t care at all. Not one sh*t given.

Embarrassing. Starts with Maresca.

So poor in his tactics today.. every team that beat mancity strangled them by dropping deeper and hitting on the counter .. this mgmt decide it’s a better idea to play a high line!!
completely mental.. all goals were just hopeful pints from their keeper .. couldn’t believe what I was seeing..

Bald twat. Comes out yesterday saying we weren't supposed to finish top 4 this season and that was the plan for next season. Said we weren't in a title fight when we were in flying form. Throws his outfield players under the bus to protect that absolute moron between the sticks.

How to unmotivate your players. Absolutely clueless.

I dont think Maresca is THE problem. As long as we have these owners and these SD’s, I doubt the manager matters much.
Whats for certain is that Maresca isn’t good enough to outweigh the piss poor squad planning but I’m not sure anyone (that we can get) is

Tuchel is probably the only manager that could navigate out of this mess.

We need to rid the virus first, and that’s the co-directors.

He’s far from ideal but our energy needs to be best placed elsewhere.

These directors have to go. Just take a look at the first page of the Robert Sanchez thread. 90% of this fanbase are better scouts than our own co-directors.

Agreed. Not a fan of Maresca by any stretch by this isn't on him. Everyone knew he's a stubborn one dimensional Championship manager.

Question is why the f**k is he here on a five year contract?
