    Just seen the picture and he looks about as happy as you would expect.

    Surely a championship team would have wanted him instead? This is the guy that was on the verge of breaking into Villa's first team and a year later he's playing for a League 1 team?

    The biggest piece of FFP money laundering that I have ever seen. Villa overpaid by about 15m for Maatsen, and we overpaid by about 15m for this lad.

    ...question is, how close does the ISS to Strasbourg this season come to beating the Kellyman financial play?

    Not close, tbf. ISS was bought for ~4m so we only break even on that transfer at best. As Strasbourg is a UEFA 'related party' there are extra levels of scrutiny there.

    Kellyman was worth ~4m and Maatsen ~20m. Both Villa and Chelsea added around 15m to each side of that equation so the money changing hands is the same, but the nerd profit is vastly increased for both clubs. Definitely a more blatant play, and because Chelsea and Villa are not related parties, there is no real extra scrutiny other than an extra leaf of wet lettuce and Liverpool "(irony) having a tantrum.

    Only just come across this thread - must have been one I missed.

    Have to admit I had never heard of Omari Kellyman and judging by recent posts, I'm never likely to hear of him again.

    Our club is an absolute joke.
