That is literally the only reason why we signed him. He will never be a Chelsea player, they will be looking to move him on, either on loan, or on a permanent deal in a year or two.

We shouldn't have to sign players to be able to sell them. We're doing the same with Atletico to sell Gallagher, absolutely mental.
August 17, 20241 yr Mary Omari Melliman. Remember the name. Might not make it as a starting striker in Marescaball but has a stellar porn career ahead. We have already turned a profit and have a buy back clause. All is good.
August 18, 20241 yr This guy was just starting to play prem football at Villa, what a horrible decision to sign for us. I can only assume the reason he’s still here and not loaned yet is cause part of the deal was promise of game time.
September 2, 20241 yr Interesting Thread title, as the last post was August 18. Then this Another long injury! Who exactly is in charge of due diligence?

September 2, 20241 yr Author Denied the services of our best summer signing for even longer.... yet we will remember the name! Edited September 2, 20241 yr by axman2526

Operative words : "another long" Poor lad. Not even 19 years old yet, and already two bad hamstring injuries ... not a good indicator of a long and productive career in professional sport ... unless you are part of the Chelsea recruitment team process I suppose ...
September 2, 20241 yr No-one can convince me this transfer wasn't simply money laundering. 20m for a totally random youth player just so we could adjust the cost we were selling Maatsen for.

Didn't we get in a whole new medical team! Now we have 4 injured and the season has just started. But yeah, he's still soo young, not being bad here but if it's his second "long" injury then a career change might be the best thing for this kid.

Agree 100%. Likely 2 or 3 years in the development squad, and a couple more out on loan, before quietly disappearing permanently into the Championship or League One was my expectation when he was signed. Especially as he clearly had a poor medical history at such an early stage of his career.
September 2, 20241 yr I think of the transfer as Villa paid £18.5m for Maatsen plus threw in a promising Villa youth player for free. The balance of the numbers are just financial fugazi to circumvent FFP for both clubs. Hence expectations for Kellyman aligned to every other academy player we've signed for nothing ...

You were so wrong, he's disappearing into a medical ward.
September 2, 20241 yr I do feel sorry Kelly. Out long term and hasn't even had a chance to show us what she can do. Remember her name.
September 2, 20241 yr It's all this psr/ffp scratch my back and I scratch yours bullsh*t. There was an article in guardian explaining it and how all clubs will be doing it soon.
December 10, 20241 yr Omari Kellyman out on loan in January to help the 19-year-old earn some senior experience. Apparently. I had almost forgotten who he was.

He could be. . .lol. Maresca mismanaged everything as usual. He could have rested Palmer more and played Felix or Chukwuemeka. Now we are looking at Kellyman for saving the day. At least he's not touting the absurdity that is KDH. That was 30 million quid well spent right? Kellyman and KDH - 50 million quid. All our owners care about is making money - yes. BUT we are never going to make money on our player deals are we. Buying and selling players to make money is really not our thing. 40 million for Mr.Felix and 70 million for the accidental junkie.
February 25, 20251 yr Funny enough, last night I thought about what happened to that kid we signed from Villa, surely he got get some minutes now 😀 No fault of the player to get injured , but even if he was injury free, most likely he will follow the Carney path. Maybe, some big spender will buy him for 30M next season, we can only hope.
