The injury to Delap had the club sh*t themselves and recall him, but Maresca doesn't even use him. He's gone with George, who we tried to sell and isn't even a striker!

Makes no sense at all what Maresca is doing.

Maresca when asked said: “Marc is back. The reason why he’s back is because the intention is to use him,...But he needs to do things better, he needs to improve things. And for sure, we’re going to use him.”

Doesnt look like it. I would love to hear him justify how an out of position George is a better option than an actual striker.

No doubt Guiu will get a run out against Lincoln (or is he cup tied?), and then forgotton again for games that matter.

I'm pretty sure Guiu is cup tied, which makes the decision to bring on George over him even more baffling.

Maresca Impressed by Overlooked Chelsea Striker Marc Guiu...

Enzo Maresca is reportedly pleased with Marc Guiu’s intensity and hunger in training, positioning him as vital cover amid Delap’s injury.

What a mess. Despite all our player trading, Delap gets injured and our club has no back up for him and ends up playing the 19 year old George out of position weeks after trying to sell him .. .. And poor old Guiu is wondering why he's recalled and has to watch George struggling in the position that he should be playing in .

It's not what happens at top clubs is it ??

What was all this about him being cup-tied last night but the club got it wrong and he wasn't cup-tied?

The rule was changed this season, our administration staff didnt know the rules had changed so he didnt take part in training, so didnt get picked. They then realised too late he can actually play, so I expect we didnt register him in time or some other nonsense. Just more evidence of a club in a mess ran by blithering idiots.

If we get a decent team in the next round I wouldn't be surprised to hear that Emegha is joining us in January and we are going to look at options for Guiu in January.

Guiu can't play any minutes for us if we want him to go in Jan.

Now reading that Maresca said the reason why Guiu wasn't involved last night was because he "felt something" in training on Monday ... yeah right ... the only thing Guiu must be feeling is the cold shoulder from this berk of a manager ...

So Guiu "felt something" and it was therefore decided to leave him out as a precaution. But then he says Palmer has had a problem with his groin since the start of the season, but "he wanted to play".

In terms of Bullsh*tting ability, Pepilini is the greatest manager we have ever had. It's hard to believe anything the man says.

In fairness this is the first I'm hearing of the rule, it wasn't exactly big news. Instead of letting us know a few hours before kick off, maybe EFL should have sent a reminder to every club a week or few days before it starts?

And I know I'm just one guy, not a whole organistion with people who are meant to look into this but a big change like this should still be communicated better.

You're right, the issue (along with so many others) is that the world is now run by housebound nerds who are incapable of talking to other human beings.

I'm actually such a nerd I read the rulebook

Funnily enough they hadn't actually accounted for this situation. So it would have needed someone at the club to actually enquire.

The rules state someone can play if they had previously played for their parent club and then were transferred.

However they obviously didn't account for someone going on loan, playing for that team, then returning.

You can't make this sh*t up. They're such a bunch of clowns.

Just quoting the above, cannot say it any more plainer than this.

I`m pretty certain the clubs were told about this, its then in the clubs interest to understand it. Not sure why they should remind cubs, its the administrations job to keep on top of all of this, theres no one to blame other than the club on this.

Ive had to do this for sunday league competitions, ignorance is no excuse.

Incompetence me thinks.

At the point that Guiu was brought back

A sane person at the club would have thought he can play in the EFL cup or he cannot play in the EFL cup or even I dont know what the situation is but i will find out.

Sadly at our club we leave it until just before ko to consider the position. Moron or Morons me thinks.

“If he [Marc Guiu] plays a single minute for Chelsea this season, he won't be able to go out on loan in January, as you cannot play for three clubs in the same campaign under FA rules.”

Makes you wonder if that is the reason Maresca keeps playing Tyrique upfront. Whole situation seems a mess especially if Delap is out till 2026 as rumoured. Strasbourg fans are already pissed off at the whole Emegha situation, there would be a full blown riot if we pull their club captain in Jan. This is Santos at Strasbourg all over again.

With all our player trading and loans every season, our club of all clubs should be absolutely on top of the rules that apply to recalled loan players.

If our own "markpitts" in the previous comment is correct , then this fiasco is even more shambolic then I first thought.

One latest rumour is maresca has been told not to use Guiu as we are going to bring Emegha in from Strasbourg in January and send them Guiu, but he cannot play for them this season if he plays even a minute for us.

If that is true then why even put him on the bench? We could give the spot to one of the academy players like Mheuka in that case.
