Chelsea could cash in on Jadon Sancho to sign Jamie Gittens

Chelsea are expected to sign Jadon Sancho permanently at the end of the season, and they could look to sell him immediately to fund a move for Jamie Gittens.

Lets ignore the stats entirely and look at his overal contribution to a game. You often don't notice he is on the pitch, and when you do, it's just tap tap tap tap tap, play a 5 yard pass backwards. His shots are usually tame or he doesn't shoot at all. His crossing is sh*t, it's so bad that he doesn't even seem to attempt many of them. He can't take on a full back because he is too slow and weak. His only quality is ball control, and he doesn't do anything with it.

As far as nothing players go, Sancho is right up there with the worst offenders. Signing him, even as a squad player, is a useless signing when you can't rely on him 9 times out of 10. If he is anything like a regular starter next season, then we won't make much progress. If we start next season with Sancho and Jackson taking up two of our attacking positions, and Maresca is manager, then you may as well just give up on the season entirely, because we won't finish in the top 10.

I don't disagree - context is everything when it comes to goals. I argued the same when Jackson's was being lauded by some for scoring the 5th and 6 in a 6v0 win... Not all goals are equal.

I do think the backwards passing line is harsh though. The manager has shown this negative, risk averse football is what he wants. All our players, except madueke (and felix when he was here) usually take the easier safer option. I don't necessarily blame Sancho for that.

JJ (that’s Jenerational Jadon) Sancho finishing the season the same way as he started it, our best player. Blessed.

If we’re horse trading, which we seem to be at his age at that price it’s a done deal. If we’re trying to build a team…… JM would have either had him up the wall, or out the door.

At that price it feels worth it anyway. Even if we have no intention of keeping him long-term you'd think we could flog him for a profit.

Who is going to buy him though ?

We are chock full already of players BlueCo supposedly want to sell, but with no buyers out there (at BlueCo's asking prices anyway) ... Disasi, Badiashile, Chilwell, Kepa, Chalobah, Veiga, Sterling, Chukwuemeka, Felix, Broja, Washington, D.Fofana ... why would we entertain adding another one to that list ? We don't need any more squad players ; we need players that are emphatic first team starters.

Disasi will go - already had a £5m loan fee and we will be able to sell him for more than enough to cover book value

Baddy - owes about £20m on the book value. Easily achievable.

Chalobah - no issue finding a buyer.

Veiga - already wanted by Juve and Spuds

Chukky - will be sold, not sure for how much.

Felix - Benfica and some brazillian team sniffing around. Saudi an option. Will be moved on.

That leaves the old guard of Chilly, Kepa and Sterling, plus the duds of Broja, Washington and Fofana.

Sancho is better than all of them, and better value. Wonder If Utd would take Sterling in a straight swap.

It's better to keep Sancho given who we are allegedly looking at to replace him.

The fact that we have Sancho on this sign or fine deal and then we're also linked with the hapless Garnacho throws immediate flags up for me that our clowns are looking at another psr dodge rinky dink with them. They take Chilwell on reduced wages, we end up with Garnacho. Can easily see that pan out tbh

Why would they take Chilwell when they already have one crocked left back (Shaw), plus poor old Chilly can't even get in the Palace team ?

I think he'll be with us until his contract runs out.

Substitute Chilwell for any of the out of favour players they want to bomb for PSR

Our best GK is at Strasbourg and our best CB was at Palace for half the season because they thought Disasi was better. Twice.

Jackson has been our only striker for 600 days and we have to rely on a 18 year old winger for these final 2 must win games.

They want Garnacho who has the worst dribbling success % out of any Premier League winger, to play in a system reliant on wingers taking players on. All while Kvaratskhelia went to PSG unchallenged costing them the same amount we got Mudryk. Wages included.

They don't deserve to buy more players when their incompetence would have seen them sacked ages ago in any other field of work. It's incredible.

Great post.

Season after season I see fans saying just sell our outcast for x m but this never ever happens. Usually they will just go forever in loan army.

We have lots of player to sell last summer yet the only two who we manages to sell were Conor (nailed done starter for us) and Maatsen (starting lb for cl finalist).

This is mostly due to the amount we were asking for to be honest. It's not like no one wanted them at all.

Fans keep forgetting a crucial point his wages. Currently we are subsidising his £300k/w+ wages. What wages would you give to a player you intend to flog as a squad option? £50k/w? £75k/w? Is Sancho going to take a 80% cut in wages to stay in London? His stock has dropped badly that no top club is interested even at a bargain price.

Saw a scary stat yesterday that he has the worst crossing accuracy in the league with players who have attempted 20+ crosses, he has 0.0%. Doucoure is the player after him with 4.3% and he is a CM. For a winger that is appalling, and it isn’t a case of not having a decent front man. Crosses don’t always have to be high.

Apparently the widely-reported £5m non-signing penalty that we can incur is exactly that - the percentage of Sancho's wages that Man Utd would have subsidised if we were to sign him permanently.

If I'm Sancho's advisor, I'd be telling him to stick at Manchester United until his huge contract expires and accept whatever loans they offer him.

If he moves anywhere else permanently it will surely have to be on a fraction of his current wages. His last good season was in 20/21 at Dortmund.

Can't see him being a regular on the left wing here and signing him permanently would only make sense if we are to shift him immediately for the lowest of profits to someone like Dortmund or Juventus or somebody else or use him in a FFP/PSR related type of swap.

To be honest I’d take him for 20m. Hes a decent squad player at very best and we’re not going to find a squad player for that price, unless they’re 12 years old.

I'm in the same camp I don't think he is top drawer yet in some matches he creates magic.

Consistency is an issue yet he is not alone there.

Funny enough I did not want him at the start,

To be fair, I can't recall Sancho crossing at all. Think he dribbles the air out of the ball and then tries to pass into the box/overlapping player (when it finally happens) and that's probably because of Maresca ball as well. Anyway, not good enough.
