Fernández needs to offer more in possession and in goal contributions to justify the gaping hole he leaves in midfield out of possession. He's not even a turnstile whom players breeze past, he's just completely absent. You could forgive it in Pirlo, Fàbregas, etc. but Fernández is just not worth the continuous problem he causes.
