April 7, 20179 yr Would rather him bring in Zola as his number 2 or reinstate Di Matteo, both have a coaching background and doesn't look like Zola will be at Birmingham much longer.

Do you know why Zola won't be at Birmingham much longer? Because he's not a very good coach/manager. As much of a legend he is for Chelsea I don't think there's anything to suggest he would be of much value to us in a coaching position.
April 7, 20179 yr Yep, sad but unfortunately true. We all love the idea of old players / ex-legends coming back and doing great things on the coaching side but Zola has had a complete shocker and could well still take Birmingham down. Probably the worst decision in years to sack Rowett and bring in Zola.

He definitely has more experience than Pirlo coming in. There is no reason to say he can't learn to coach much the same as Pirlo would be doing. Same with Di Matteo or possibly even promoting Cudi if he wants to keep it Italian. At least they have some kind of Chelsea heritage.

At least they have some kind of Chelsea heritage. Every player has zero experience until they start. Means nothing. If you've got the know how, it'll come through. Let Conte pick whoever he feels would be of the most help to him, not picking someone just for the sake of a Chelsea background. Zola and Di Matteo are both bang average managers. Nothing wrong with trying out Pirlo. He was almost ex Chelsea himself as well.
April 7, 20179 yr He has dismissed Pirlo as he is still playing. Yes let him pick his own men. A Chelsea connection would be great. Shocked no one mentioned JT recently......

How he hasn't done his badges not close to being ready to take Steve hollands place, frank has started doing his badges and I'd say he isn't ready either but arteta managed to go straight into a role as co-assistant, maybe there is a role like that for frank
April 11, 20179 yr There's a big difference between being part of the coaching team than being the head coach/manager. Plenty of great coaches over the years have failed when making that step up to lead the team. I'm not saying hire Zola, but he almost certainly offers plenty knowledge for technical coaching, his failings probably arise from his lack of ability to galvanise a team into a unit or something similar.

I agree a Sergeant and a General have completely different qualities, the inability to be the head coach or manager of a team doesn't mean you can't bring plenty to the table as part of the coaching staff.

Pirlo was a god. Also his book is a good read, very light, could have it finished on a medium length train/ bus/ plane journey. It's also pretty funny in places, especially where he speaks about Gattuso Edited April 12, 20179 yr by RMCM

He is unable to get meaningful minutes, which is bad for his career as well as for Chelsea. Also, we clearly do have a lot of youth that are on the cusp or already in the first team but are unable to get starting positions (Ake, RLC, Chalobah) or even regular consistent minutes.
April 19, 20179 yr He wont. Koeman also said he will be sold if he doesnt sign a new deal so its not like they have a lot of leverage. We have proven the last few seasons that we would rather look elsewere then pay way over the odds so if they stand firm on 100 they are going to have a problem with an unhapoy player next season. Over 60 mill and it wont get done
April 19, 20179 yr 14 hours ago, Tibbers said: I don't think Conte will spend this much on a player. What do you think? They want a 100 mil for a player that could leave for free next year? Clowns. All we need to say to him is don't renew your contract and we will give you 50 grand more a week that if we buy you, agree personal terms from now. Didn't real threaten something like that with Degaya ? If he doesn't renew they will panick because it's play hard ball and lose any fee on him or accept 45 now and still make a nice return, they just aren't in a position of leverage, silly, silly scousers, drive up a price that no one bids, he doesn't sign then it's also in the players interest because the bidding war next summer will be for his wages not his transfer fee, win for him and for potential suitors.
April 24, 20179 yr Talk in the express of us being interested in £120 million duo of lukaku and vvd. Even if lukaku is priced at 80 million, how is van dijk priced at 50? Also there's talk in the same paper of de laurentis stating if £60 million priced koulibaly wants to leave then he won't stand in his way. So christensen and ake or van dijk/koulibaly? Somebody will have to warm the bench.

April 26, 20179 yr Few newspaper rumours today about Willian going to Man Utd. Must be honest, he didn't look happy on Saturday when subbed, and he can't be happy on the bench for most of this season. Would not want him to leave.

Would not want him to leave either, and even if he did leave he definitely shouldn't be allowed to go to another premier league rival

If we got good money for him, say £40m and we were able to sign someone quality as a replacement I wouldn't be completely against it.
