I'm talking about strengthening our team not our bank balance though

So because we didn't spend money to bring anyone in, we did add 3 players to our squad, we've had a poor window? If Conte didn't want to buy anyone, is that still poor?

Call January whatever you want. Thats up for debate. My original point was you'd have to be bonkers to think the past summer was poor in terms of transfers.

no no no. No f**king way do I want us to spunk £75m on another injury prone striker and then be stuck with him for years

It would be a bit of a concern, but until i actually see him start slowing down, i'm not going to say it has caught up with him just yet. Who knows, he could be like Robben and keep playing really well even with all of the injuries he gets.

I agree with you though about City not selling him to us though. I don't think that will ever happen. If he leaves City, he won't play for another Premier League team.

He goal ratio is still really good but reading Man City fans views on him this season is his overall play has been bit quite bad this season.

It's just a rumour, no European team will sign him for more than 40m except he is going to China.

douglas costa been flirting with the idea of leaving bayern. talks he's unsettled, and since pep left he isn't as influential. recent comments saying he thinks premier league is best league in the world. i know he wanted to come to chelsea before he went to bayern. he is left footed, tricky winger and talented. who would take him in the summer if he becomes available?

Not seen anything from him to suggest he would be an improvement on Alonso.

Considering how much he would probably cost and his wages I would say no.

If he was playing like he was at the start of last season, i would gladly take Shaw from United. Since his leg break though he hasn't kicked on and i thought he looked a bit overweight at the start of the season.

Sounds like he's angling for a new contract to me. I'd only take him if Hazard leaves and we can't sign Sanchez for whatever reason. We already have Pedro/Willian and tbh I'd prefer we signed Berardi.

If Hazard was to leave us one day, and Douglas Costa was his replacement, then i would be incredibly disappointed. Our chances of winning league titles would drop significantly. Douglas Costa just doesn't score goals, the max he has ever got in a season is 7.

should we bring the kid home?

I don't think so. All the ones in our squad of his position are better than him.

My thoughts exactly.

Did he get a proper preseason under his belt?  He might just need another summer of strength and conditioning to becoming fighting fit again.  Leg breaks like his are notoriously hard to recover from though.  Not many is world sport ever get back to their best.

Who's the last injury prone striker we bought?

Falcao was the last one we invested in, and that was pointless. Torres before that was never the same after his injury problems at Liverpool..

But we have never from my memory bought in injury prone striker, torres recovered physically well in the fact he wasnt out much, I think we have been very good at not only buying guys in good condition but maintaining them, we thankfully have the fewest injuries consistently compared to other teams, even diego is far less injury prone now than when  we got him, our medical and physio team are outstanding.

According to today's Sun Dom Solanke is a £8m target for Liverpool...he's still not agreed a contract extension with us...talk of him wanting a £50k a week deal...

£8M? isn't he on a free in the summer or do they have to pay some sort of compensation like they did getting Danny Ings from Burnley?.

I think the compensation will more realistically be 5m, then his 50k a week will take the deal up to 8m for the first year in terms of what Liverpool shell out on him.

L'Pool surely only want him because he's English. They're thinking, if this guy was a decent English striker for one of the best youth teams in the past decade, he must be worth taking a punt on especially since we could rub it in the face of our rivals and keep our 'identity'.

They can't have been convinced by any of his senior performances, so the way they're potentially judging whether or not to sign him is hilarious. It's even more hilarious if they ARE judging it on his senior performances.

Don't think Liverpool are now interested in Solanke...talk of Bayern interest...just hope the boy looks at himself and does himself a favour and rejects the rubbish advice he's being given...
