Well that's not true at all, only Man City and us have to be worried about FFP, we're struggling to break even. Man United and Arsenal are posting over £70M a year profits under FFP, therefore they have loads more money to spend than us! Thats why we have to sell to buy and they can just buy whoever they want

I think we should stop hoarding second rate strikers.

 

For me our striker situation is similar to Man Utds CM situation. We have enough depth and enough players who can 'do a job'. Id say all of Etoo, Torres and Lukaku would be a decent second choice. What we need is a clear cut top level striker.

I fear the Torres buy has set us back here significantly but we need to take the plunge and sort that position out once and for all.  Personally I'd get rid of everyone we currently have there in the summer and go with Lukaku + a top new signing.  If Eto'o wants to stay another year I'd be happy with that though (as a backup), but Torres and Ba have never worked out here and we need to move on.  If Mourinho could make that call with Mata I hope he can do it again here and finally sort this out.  Luckily we haven't had many problems scoring but we'd look a lot more formidable with an elite striker leading the line, something we haven't had since Drogba.  Aside from Costa who I'm not too keen on I can't see anyone available though.

Manduzic I've heard has fallen out of favour at Bayern so could be a good buy. Be better to have this discussion after the World Cup probably.

Mandzukic would be the perfect type of striker for Mou. He is hard working and ruthless, also Bayern wudnt force him to stay if he wanted to move

Mandzukic is good and surplus to requirements at bayern with the lewandowski move. I think he's next best possible move after costa.

I'd still be an advocate of getting Ibra either though, he's old, sure, but he'd be perfect for the transition until Lukaku is ready to be first choice week in week out. Costa doesnt convince me yet, one season of good goalscoring form isn't all that encouraging, look at how many strikers have been one season wonders.

Makes me wonder whether PSG might have been open to it if Mata sweetened the deal.  I'm pretty sure they were after him in the summer and they're reportedly interested in Hazard now (which hopefully has no chance of happening).  I just can't see them selling so soon after buying him unless Cavani really forces it.

I can't stand Mandzukic, did you see him in the Super Cup against us ? He was sh*t, and would go down with the slightest of touches.
