Chelsea are ready to give Michael Essien a pay off to convince him to move to AC Milan.

Essien, who spent last season on-loan at Real Madrid, is out of favour at Stamford Bridge and Jose Mourinho has given him permission to leave the club.

However, despite Milan making an approach to sign him this week, the Ghanaian is not willing to accept the switch, as he must take a pay cut.

Essien is on hefty wages at Chelsea, which the Serie A club are refusing to match, but the Blues are ready to come to an agreement.

 

According to reports, they are ready to pay off the remainder of 31-year-old’s contract – as an incentive to complete a move to the San Siro.

Essien’s agent has spent the last few days in Italy trying to thrash out an deal with new boss Clarence Seedorf – who wants to add to his midfield options.

If Essien does leave, he will be the latest Chelsea star to be cleared out by Mourinho following the departures of Kevin de Bruyne and Juan Mata.

Makes sense to get rid of Essien. We need to get rid of some foreign players if we want to buy more, apparently we're at our limit of registered ones, and Essien is never going to be anywhere near back to his best.

Exactly, he's a hypocrite. His latest ones have made me laugh:

- we shouldn't be allowed to sell Mata to United cause we've played them twice. Hmm looks like he's worried there, obviously doesn't think his teams good enough to do it on their own.

- you shouldn't be allowed to buy in January unless you have injuries. He said that after Walcott got injured. We've played against Draxler twice already in the Champs League does that mean if they sign him he shouldn't be allowed to play against us? Bore off Wenger.
