The review panel must have deemed Lampard's curling free kick to be, in fact, on target and Terry's outstretched boot to not have made any actual contact with the ball. Though it is no doubt that the Captain's presence affected Tim Howard, as all the goalkeeper managed to do was palm the ball straight into the back of his net. By definition, own goals cannot be awarded for shots on target from the opposition and thus, the credit goes to Lampard.

It's certainly an odd way to score a milestone goal. It was Super Frank's 250th career goal, 210 of which have come for Chelsea. He has now reached five Premier League goals in each of his 14 Chelsea seasons. Combined with his 29 international goals, he continues to add to his legacy as one of the greatest goal-scoring midfielders of all time.

Super Frank, indeed.

probably stating the obvious, but can't see his goals record for us ever being broken.

In 100 years time, Chelsea fans will STILL salute this guy for being one of our all time greats! i feel lucky that i've had the privilege of seeing his career with us from day one. i was a bit too young to appreciate gianfranco zola to begin with, i only properly understood football from 99/2000 onwards, so i feel like frank/jt are the true legends of my era, although zola was the man that first made me fall for chelsea. i didnt understand much, but i understood that he was a little magician!

Was just comparing his career to Gerrard's.  How anyone could think Gerrard is a better footballer is beyond me.  Frank has been a complete footballer for so many years.  His goal scoring, clutch goals, box to box play was so much greater than Stevie.  He's also helped us win just about every trophy imaginable.  Frank >>>> Gerrard.  

Gerrard has that Paul Scholes trajectory through ball pass ability (better than Franks I feel), and arguably better long range shooting technique which a lot of people love.

But when it comes to getting goals upon goals, there is no comparison

Gerrard is, in my opinion, a more public figure.  Frank tends to keep himself to himself a bit more.  Also, all the Liverpool fans I know go on about how Gerrard is a "one club man" and that Frank wasn't homegrown.

 

They don't say much more when I ask them about his request to leave Liverpool when Chelsea were seemingly interested.

 

I hope Gerrard never wins the league, because I love having that little "one up" over them.

Gerrard seems to think he's Andrea Pirlo based on the fact that he loves the long ball, is playing at the base of midfield and played a game in Italy once. He's probably closer to being Charlie Adam...

I think Gerrard appeals more in the UK because he's a crash, bang, wallop type of player in the mould of Brian Robson. Hollywood balls, running around like a headless chicken, charging the length of the pitch to make a last ditch tackle, scoring the odd 30 yard rocket. Whereas Frank excels at the subtler arts. Of course, Gerrard's case is also helped by playing for Grievance FC while Frank plays for the pantomime villains.
