Double figure? Easy. 3 in 20 so far. 18 games to go...more interesting question probably is will Suarez hit 40 goals...

Anyway same old Torres. Great work ethic, nice runs here and there and then...choke. The goal was good but extremely lucky. Glad he got it and hope we'll double figures but I wouldn't get my hopes up and I'm sure you wont.

He played well yesterday to be fair to him. But you can never really count on him like Liverpool can with Suarez or City can with Aguero. I think we have missed that since Drogba left.

Our strikers are good enough to finish the season, I think. I hope we get a CM this month though. Matic I guess

No. They really aren't. If we don't get a striker this window we will end up regretting it. They have 7 goals between the three of them so far this season.

There are no available strikers that are better than what we've got.

I don't believe that. The three we have got have managed seven league goals between them. Surely it's vital we get a consistent, reliable goalscorer in. He doesn't even have to be world class. We just need one that can score on a regular basis, something none of ours are doing.

A consistent reliable goal scorer is world class!

Not necessarly, we just need someone that can bang more than 10 league goals a season. Our last striker to do it was Drogba in 2011 I believe. That's three years without any of our strikers giving us a significant contribution at their main role - scoring goals. The sad part is that our loaned strikers (Sturidge at the time, and now Lukaku two years in a row) have a better record than our own in the last three years.

Honestly, I don't believe we should invest in a striker presently and focus on getting a player to control the midfield. We should rethink our approach this summer when Eto's contract is over and we have Lukaku back. Honsetly, I think Jose should look into selling both Ba and Torress, and getting a fresh line-up at the front. Buy a top class striker, get Lukaku as the second and maybe promote Piazon or someone else from the youth as the third back-up with Shurlle as the emergency option.

Consistent? Reliable?

Well it depends how much time frame you give him. He's played a whole season where he's been consistent and reliable.

It's only when players show capable of being able to do that over many seasons they can start being considered world class.

Players like Bent are capable of having very good seasons, in which they are consistent and reliable, before fading to obscurity not long after. See, I believe doing the job for a whole season is showing consistency and reliability, doing it for season after season is when you break into world class.

Jose has said we are 2 clinical signings from being possibly the best team in the world. We know that means 1 clinical CM and 1 clinical striker. These will happen in the summer. Anything that happens this month is just a slight reinforcement for the squad, not a game-changer.

^ Pray it's not Rooney though, don't think I can stomach paying Utd around £20m & paying a 29yr old Rooney in excess of £250k weekly for 4yrs.

even despite  the fact he has been one of the best players in the prem this year? he's the reason united arent bottom half of the table

Funny how most of here agreed this is the case and the club didn't do anything to fix it. Well they probably did but didn't succeed. World class CM and a world class striker. Striker case is a bit easier because we get Lukaku back summer and he is already one of the best strikers in the league playing for Everton at least.

For the CM spot I really hope we could get DeRossi but it is probably very hard to lure him away from Roma. Backup options Khedira and Alonso who Jose knows well.

^What is motivating that though; is it a new manager?, being played closer to goal?, knowledge his contract is running out?, or could it be because it's a World Cup year?

I would argue its a combination of all the above factors, makes you wonder why Utd are not in a rush to renew his contract. Agree he is one of the best players in the league this year but he has this niggling injuries (he is injured again), and you can argue that will get worse as he gets older. Considering how we have been burnt with Torres, it would only make sense if we got the Man City route presently; where all their recent recruits are on low wages boosted with higher performance based bonuses.

I'd go all out to get Rooney, I'd love it if we landed him. He's an incredible player, he's put United as high as they are this season, let's face it. He's clearly still not 100% committed to United though, you can tell. He should have chosen to hand in a transfer request and come here last summer. I just don't think United will ever sell him to us though. He'll end up going abroad.

I may be being obtuse here (unlike me, I know) but what does he mean by a "clinical" signing?

Specialist, consistent, super top quality. One of the best in the world at his position.

De Rossi would be my dream player. Pogba would also be a dream signing because he's so young and already so damn good and dominant.
