Specialist, consistent, super top quality. One of the best in the world at his position.

But that is emphatically not what clinical means.  Much as I love Jose, he can't just choose an English word at random and change its meaning!!

There are plenty of very good adjectives that mean super top quality - but clinical is not one of them!

I took it as the signings must be "clinical" as in the perfect ones that will be the pieces that bring everything together, not the the actual players must be "clinical".

Still probably not the right words but thats the way I looked at it.

Well, clinical usually means objective, analytical. So if he meant his decisions would be made in a clinical manner, then that makes sense. Except that I'd have thought all his decisions would be.

I wonder if he maybe meant "critical"?

If he is using the word clinical, he is most likely referring to it's definition of efficient and unemotional. It may or may not have been the best word to use, but it technically works.

Actually in sports the word clinical means efficient, cool and composed under pressure, stemming from its medical origins as a word relating to surgeons and doctors, a profession with little margin for error and thus requiring highly elite skills.

Critical is not at all the word he was trying to use. Moi, is English your first language?

This from Wikipedia:

Clinical finisher

Clinical finishers are forwards that specialise in their accurate shooting ability, hence scoring goals. They are "clinical" in that they need few opportunities to score a goal being able to strike and place the ball exactly where it will beat the goalkeeper. They can be identified by their high shots to goals ratio. Clinical strikers usually play as centre forwards though other attacking players can often be said to be clinical finishers.

Didn't get much ball today, but battled hard against 3 bid defenders, took his goal with old skoil aplomb, I wanna see him played in like that more often, that goal I aint seen him score in cfc blue, thought it was a liverfool flashback, keep it up Nando!!

I was surprised when he scored. Looked like he was being shepherded out then boom, back of the net.

Nicely taken goal but but... for the most part his performance was pretty poor in my opinion, I was just stating in match chat that I just don't understand how one game he can look so confident and sharp and then other times lie todays game he just looks scared of the ball at the crunch moment.

Thought he did well enough today and showed that he is currently the first pick out of the three strikers we have available.

At the moment he is the best striker option we have. Which is actually saying a lot.

We seriously need to get a top draw striker. But unfortunately I doubt it will be until the summer.

Gone is the man we saw against the yods and Citeh. 86 minutes of nothing and then a nicely taken finish. Is it enough? Would a Saurez or Aguero have better quality?

You decide.

Nibs if Drogba had played like that you would have killed him for it. Torres took the goal well. It was not an easy finish. But other than that he was poor.

Wow that's an idea I haven't heard before ........

That was your classic Torres (the liverpool version) though. He is invisible for the majority of the match, then he picks up the ball 30 yards from goal and finishes it all by himself

As far as im concerned, it was a good performance.

Nope it wasn't his best day but the fact he still scored a nicely taken goal is handy. The thing for me is when he runs at defenders he can still scare them. But he is looking to pass it most of the time when having a shot is the better option. He did ok against 3 defenders and getting the goal to kill the game of saved us about 10 minutes of heartache

Torres had one chance today and finished it well. How many times do we see Van Pussy doing f**k all during a game and then one chance, back of the net. That's what a lot of good strikers do.

Do I think this is the Torres back to his Liverpool days, no probably not but while he works away giving his all for CFC he'll have my full support.

At the moment he is our best option leading the line.

Took the chance well. Was isolated up top by himself against the defenders and when your forced out of the game for long periods it is tough to get going.

Good goal, wasn't expecting that to end up in the back of the net. Thought he would try to get it onto his right and fluff it up in the process.

Come on, he scored. What more can you ask from a lone striker? I wish this board would stop criticizing him. When he scores he should be above criticism. Torres fan here
