Lukaku to Everton

Featured Replies

thought Brendan Rodgers' comments about Sturridge today were telling - he said Sturridge needed to be given a chance.  Whether it was just a matter of bad timing (i.e we had Drogba) Chelsea never gave Sturridge a decent run - likewise with Lukaku will we really give the guy a decent run in the team?

I think he's the sort of striker who can be very effective against quite a few premiership sides, especially the mid-table and lower table sides but he doesn't look like a first choice striker for us, at least not in big games and not in Europe

spot on,

He has starter ONE match in the EPL in on 13/05/12

He has also played THREE matches in the League Cup back in 2011.

If you look at Sturridge he had under 5 matches for us playing as a striker - despite his time Bolton

I'm starting to believe the rumors that Lukaku will be sold. I'm disappointed because I think he could be a great striker for us. His pace and size will torment any defence. I think his problem is his attitude. I watched him in a recent game, I think it was against Cardiff. Cardiff equalized off a free kick that flew right past Lukaku to be banged in by the attacker. If Lukaku had made any effort at all he could've cleared it. It was pathetic defending that put his side in real trouble in a really important match. Jose isn't going to tolerate that lack of committment from a 20-year-old, even if he is a real talent.

Poor defensive work rate, questionable first touch, running his mouth to the press, asking for a transfer because he isn't nailed on first-choice; these aren't good signs for a young player. I also don't like the way he's always calling for the ball, or pointing to where he wants it. He does it even when he isn't in a good position. I can see why we might be looking to sell him.

Unfortunately I agree with your post ,however I hope that if he stays he has a massive attitude adjustment. When it seemed like Everton would make the CL he had a bit to say , but once that didn't transpire, he seemed to be more conciliatory in regard to a future with us..It would be interesting though to see if he would have a big time attitude with Chelsea players.

His attitude will adjust, he is young, naturally he's slightly big headed with how well his career has progressed also. Dont think it cant change, it deffo can.

I want him to be a Chelsea legend, this is the window though, if he stays Im sure he pushes on and becomes a legend, if he goes then im not so sure.

I don't think any one of the top 4 will guarantee him a starting spot. Is he willing to go play Europa league next season, or he's happy to fulfil his dream at Chelsea? Easy choice really, Martinez has talked him up every chance he got, he wanted Lukaku on the cheap, I doubt he would pay 20M+ if he has the opportunity.

Needs to return next season and become Costa's strike partner.

Doubt we'll be able to offload Torres so he'll become third choice.

1. Costa

2. Lukaku

3. Torres

For the occasions we come up against a parked bus Costa and Lukaku on at the same time. Two tanks should be more than enough to blow up a bus.

When Ibrahimovich was still at Ajax, one of the coaches said to him that he could be as good of a player as he wanted. That is to say, he could be the best in the world if he put the work in.

Lukaku is absolutely the same. He could be the the best no.9 striker in the world in a few years if he's truly committed to it.

There is no doubt in my mind that a Mourinho led Chelsea is the best place for him to become the best in the world. No other top champions league contender plays a game plan that would suit Lukaku better if he's willing to put the effort in.

On the other hand, he can remain at clubs like Tottenham and Everton and carve out a nice, steady career for himself, living comfortably but ultimately never making it to the very top level.

The balls in his court......i hope for his and Chelsea's sake he decides to cut the crap and realise his potential.

Lots of the papers are reporting that we're set to offer Lukaku a new deal, with a view to then being able to loan him out for another year and to ensure that his transfer value doesn't decrease substantially if he has an under-par season. I'd rather just bring him back as the number 2 but I don't think he'd want that. Sure he'd get his games, just like all our forwards have this year, but ultimately Jose wants to build the team around Costa.

I think Lukaku has to be realistic here and either be prepared to fight or go on loan again for a guaranteed starting berth.

Come on! Zlatan has always loved being an absolute flair machine with bags of tricks! Lukaku has a bit of a physcial presence, and potential... thats about it at this stage. Hes a 60 minute player as well.

Can you ever seeing Lukaku doing this to a a team?

Most strikers would look sh*t when comparing them to Zlatan. I like Oscar, Salah, Schurrle and Willian but compared to Hazard he makes them look like sh*t. Thats because players like Zlatan and Hazard are special talents that dont come around often.

Doubt Lukaku will sign a new contract, he will want to start more games next season etc before he does.

little harsh. Not many people have done that to a team

I know hah.

I am sure Qaz wasnt meaning he could end up like Zlatan in terms of creativity, but I think its a little early to say he can be one of the best in the world when he hasnt shown any sort of fight to stay and prove Jose wrong. Its easy to look like a big fish in a small pond than a big fish in a big pond.

I've got to be honest, I took 2 of his dummies and nearly fell on my backside just watching it.
