Oscar - Little Diamond

Featured Replies

We looked sh*t in midfield though.

Was a pretty messy game all round, bet the neutrals loved it!

I really like Oscar but he does seem to be a very form related player IMO, when he's good he's great.

When he's off colour it is really noticeable by his own high standards.

Does anyone else worry about burn out with Oscar with the sheer amount of games he plays every season.

Jose doesnt seem to play Oscar against the bigger teams or the tougher teams. Ramie usually gets the call instead. I wasnt shocked to see that Oscar was "injured" for the Everton game.

Oscar is the perfect Mourinho player. He always puts his head down and does a job. Today was no exception and I thought he was immense. So many great tackles to save a killer pass. I would have him on the pitch against anyone.

Great time to revive this thread, kudos.

I've been wondering what's bugging Oscar recently, perhaps it was the 7-1 in the World Cup that broke his confidence? However, I'm glad to see that Mourinho has done a great damage-control and repair job on the lad. He's still not quite there but he's made clear efforts to improve his game in all departments. It's all looking up from here for Oscar.

HE'S BACK!

I disagree with SeanWB though that he 'always puts his head down and does a job' as there have been numerous games when he hasnt, but boy, when he does... What a class player, just wish he played like this in every game, or at least 75% of them

I think he has become a completely different player to what he was when he joined, perhaps that would explain why he was poor for a while, because watching him sprint around, hurling his body in front of shots and putting in crunching tackles all over the park is not what we saw in that first game vs Juventus.

In my opinion Oscar was the man of the match against Arsenal yesterday. He was running every minute, he was fighting to get every ball and was helping a lot to Matic and Fabregas. This is the real Oscar, which we all love and want.

So important to our midfield because he helps Fabregas with the creative burden and getting the odd goal (could get more though), but also does so much defensively and helping Matic in that regard. A beautifully balanced trio and he really did mask Ramires's absence. Hopefully he can keep it up this season.

He is not the same type of player we signed. He does not look like a #10 by any means he has little to no creativity no vision or flair in his game to be regarded as a #10. He has become a tireless box-2-box midfielder who covers most of the ground and make tackles more of a #8.

C'mon man you're very talented midfielder please recreate your magic like you had in the 1st half of last season..

He should influence the game more to be regarded as a real playmaker but he isn't. That was the problem we suffered last season in the absence of Mata Oscar was not creative at all. But thankfully we've got Cesc now.

Although he was very very good for us yesterday no denying that but he hardly started any attacks.

Quite the opposite, the number of times he was winning back possession meant that we could go on the attack.

He's never going to jink through an opposition defense like Hazard did yesterday but his movement and pressing opens up space time and time again.

He's a very intelligent player but he has a work rate that is unmatched by many who play in his position.

I'm a massive fan of him as a player personally and I think he's going to be crucial to our title challenge because the whole midfield functions better when he plays.

Been very critical of him for a while now but he put in a great shift yesterday.

Apparently weve never lost a game when Oscar has scored

Not sure where you've got that but it's not true. He scored first in our 1-2 home defeat against Basle last season.
