April 23, 201610 yr "Mourinho wanted him to score more, lead the team in difficult moments and win games. That pressure was too much for him so his performances suffered, he got stressed and started to get injured more."" If that's true then it shows that he will never be one of the best players in the world with such mental weakness. Very worrying. It seemed to work last season, how was it different this time?
April 23, 201610 yr I've always said this. He's a lovely lad but he's never going to be one of the world's best because he doesn't have that desire, that killer instinct. Look at Ronaldo - works his arse off in the gym to be the best he can be. Lampard - would stay after training and work on his finishing and becomes our greatest goalscorer. Drogba - great striker, but decides to work on his free kicks for HOURS after training to get better. Eden doesn't. He is one of the first off the training pitch and one of the first home because that's his character. It's not a surprise he struggled because he's simply not like that and you can't change your innate character in my opinion. Good lad, massive natural talent but mentally lacking that something special. (Krc, please don't bother quoting me because I'm not going to respond.) Could be but as far as I know there is no proof of this. Were there any direct quotes on the topic from the coaches or the players? He should have learned from Lamps on how to be an utter professional, on that I agree.
April 23, 201610 yr Those days are gone, Droogba. Also in Genk. Team players are exceptionel nowadays. Modern football. It doesn't confuse me, but it feels not good. It's good for the PL then that Leicester is proper old school ;)
April 23, 201610 yr It seemed to work last season, how was it different this time? One marathon is fine, try to run another the next day and you will do your knee in.
April 23, 201610 yr Drogba, Lampard ... golden time. I've gone off Hazard and am wondering if he was a flash in the pan. In the context of a world class player, he is only a one season wonder at this point. One marathon is fine, try to run another the next day and you will do your knee in.Odd, the league is full of players running the exact same course and not doing their knee in such as Hazard has. April 23, 201610 yr One marathon is fine, try to run another the next day and you will do your knee in. So it's not a mental issue then at all?
April 23, 201610 yr The cynic in me wonders if certain players will start giving extra because of the upcoming Euros. PS: Agree the massive contract was a mistake but that is what you get with all footballers. One good season & they start encouraging interest from other teams, it is ridiculous.
April 23, 201610 yr Author People will say hazard was much improved today. I think he has put in a lot better performances thand that this season, but he we hasn't scored, and we have lost. Anyway really pleased for him to get his goals. Hopefullyit's the start of him winning some of the fan base back over, as I think he come in for a lot of criticism this season, some warranted, some over the top. Really hope he is here next season.
April 23, 201610 yr Odd, the league is full of players running the exact same course and not doing their knee in such as Hazard has. It was an analogy mate. Not referring to his physical but his mental state. So it's not a mental issue then at all? People do get mentally broken as well under the weight of expectation. That first 45 minutes was his best this season. He was running at players, sprinting for return balls and he even tracked back tenaciously. I'm not sure if he's done that better this season. Second-half he looked tired and some of his decision making was ponderous. His link-up play with Cesc was ungodly at times.

We will have agree to disagree then mate, I think he has played as well as that 1st half on a few occasions this year. Especially the the start of the season when confidence was still pretty high. I agree he looked tired second half, as to be expected when you have been put a while. I think we can both agree though it can only be beneficial for him to back so a monster the goals, even if it is only keeping his stock high for interested buyers.

I agree with all of that except the performance thing. Maybe I'm forgetting some but he was looking happier playing today. Maybe it's because the pressure is off but like you say it can only be a good thing.
April 23, 201610 yr I think we saw this coming when he said he isnt worried about scoring and carrying a team like Ronaldo or Messi. I forgot about that. I remember reading something from a Belgian sports writer where he said he believed hazard would never reach the highest level due to a lack of drive to be the very best.
April 23, 201610 yr I forgot about that. I remember reading something from a Belgian sports writer where he said he believed hazard would never reach the highest level due to a lack of drive to be the very best. He was among the top 5 in the world last year though, I would say that is the highest level. I would be happy if he could rediscover that form.
April 23, 201610 yr I was happy to see him scoring twice against Bournemouth. He should forget this season, everyone was disappointing this season. He's talented and one of our best players, we have to keep him in the next season and give him the chance to fix his errors from this season.
April 23, 201610 yr No, ShedEnder91. If it's ok, it's ok! (And I still believe you are a nice man!) You are far far too nice Krc, there is nothing nice about ShedEnder
April 23, 201610 yr Wasn't any better than he has been this season today. Difference was he manged to score twice. Great for him though and great to see him on the sore sheet but way to premature to suggest everything is going to be back to PRE 2015 Hazard.
April 23, 201610 yr He was among the top 5 in the world last year though, I would say that is the highest level. I would be happy if he could rediscover that form. I think we all would. I agree he's top 5 most talented, or thereabouts, but he's not near that in terms of influence on a match. Which makes sense if you think he'll never realize his full potential
April 23, 201610 yr I still don't understand people (Barry) saying Hazard is a one season wonder. You've obviously just started following football or are blinded by hate for Hazard. At Lille he tore that league up and was wanted by every single club. Every season at Chelsea he's been fantastic getting into the team of the year every season. Yet you keep stating he's only had one great season.. Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk
April 23, 201610 yr Good interview on MOTD. Said all the right stuff about who we don't want to win the league. The time is nigh to deliver now son! One massive performance will go a long way to heal a piss poor season.
April 23, 201610 yr Hazard not a one season wonder at all. I personally think his 2013-2014 season was his best at the club - he just didn't get POTY because of Suarez. Then player of the season last year. His first season with us and last season at Lille were hardly "bad" seasons either.
