April 13, 201610 yr Just read the supposed done deal for £32 million, has his stock fallen that low, are we bargaining for a RM player, surely that fee is bollox? No way thats the fee. It doesnt look good for anyone other than Madrid
April 13, 201610 yr If Sterling is worth £50m the Hazard is easily worth that and then some. If Real think they are getting him for £32m either it's utter bullsh*t or there is something else on the table that the reporters know nothing of, such as a player swap. This is just wishful thinking from a single Real biased newspaper in Spain.
April 13, 201610 yr I haven't seen any report in spanish newspapers, could anyone put here a link or the name of the newspaper? On the other hand, I read yesterday that Conte would like Ramos, so maybe there's a swap, although I very much doubt R Madrid would rid of him or that he is willing to come to England.

True, but KDB was also 50+ million, so if you want to compare the two belgians I know which one is worth that based on consistency
April 13, 201610 yr He was brilliant last season and terrible this season. He subbed himself three times this season and most of the time looked like he doesn't want to be here. I would never want a player that is not happy or wants to go, he is still valuable and can be sold for big money. Probably that big that we can buy a winger of his quality and we all move on.
April 13, 201610 yr Must have signed for PSG last summer, certainly hasn't been playing for us this year.
April 13, 201610 yr we'll play this out untill we see that transfer request.. then and only by then we'd consider cashing in..
April 13, 201610 yr If we can't sell for £60m + then we shouldn't be selling him he's only 24/25 and we know what he can do when he's at it, will be interesting to see how he performs at the Euros and how he will perform next season fully fit under Conte.
April 13, 201610 yr Don't hold back, tell us what you really think, jeez. I reckon he'll be back to his best under Conte. I don't think so. Hazard needs someone to babysit him and Conte is not that guy. He's way tougher on his player than Jose. If Hazard stays he will get his feeling hurt on a regular basis.
April 13, 201610 yr Just read the supposed done deal for £32 million, has his stock fallen that low, are we bargaining for a RM player, surely that fee is bollox? Here is what Hazard said in an interview about that real madrid 32mil rumour: "I don't know who's saying that, but it's not true. At the moment, I'm at Chelsea. First, I have to finish the season and I still have a contract for four years. I'm there, and I'm currently feeling good over there. I want to be on the pitch as soon as possible. With Chelsea." -Eden Hazard; source: ACTV via Kristof Terreur I think he will come back strong for us and for Belgium in the Euros, just hope he can get rid of his injury asap.
April 14, 201610 yr I don't think so. Hazard needs someone to babysit him and Conte is not that guy. He's way tougher on his player than Jose. If Hazard stays he will get his feeling hurt on a regular basis. I disagree entirely. I actually think managers such as Mourinho and Conte are the best kind for him. Hazard doesn't need to be babysitted. He needs to be pushed. Mourinho did that and Hazard had his best season in his career under Mourinho. I believe Conte will do the same.
April 14, 201610 yr Whilst I think he's been a bit of a prima donna, clearly lacking guts and a "I'll f**king show you" attitude, I also think Mourinho clipped his wings by making him do a lot of the "donkey work" and maybe made him feel a bit disillusioned. I'd be inclined to give him another chance next season and see how he does. We know what player he can be, Conte could bring out the best in him again. They'll be shattered after the Euros if they progress to a far stage so we have to be patient with him and the rest!
April 14, 201610 yr If he's still here next season he owes the club and more to point us fans a huge season. For a player of his stature and the money he earns his performances this year have frankly been disgraceful. Never have I known in twenty years of watching Chelsea a player to win our player of the year and follow it up with a complete sh*t on a stick season.

As you say, the transformation has been astounding. For whatever reason (and it's probably down to a combination of things) he has gone from hero to zero. Closest I can recall is Malouda, who although not player of the season went from being pretty decent to absolute toilet.

Problem is that Conte expects players to 'sacrifice' (a word I've seen used a few times, possibly because it's Italians) themselves for the team. In fact that's what most top coaches seem to expect nowadays, be it Guardiola asking Messi to do the 7-second press or Simeone almost killing his players. Jose is no different in that regard either. For me it's more important to have 11 players on the pitch pulling together and slogging their guts out for 90 minutes than it is to see Hazard dancing around players again. If he stays and pulls his weight then great, I hope he gets back to his best. But I heard about Conte making players run laps of the pitch in training and how he'd push them physically. That is either the point at which Hazard becomes a top player again or the point at which he gives up and goes and plays in either Spain or France where he can get away with being 80% fit. At the moment, and I might not be alone in saying this, I don't care either way. I don't feel any greater affinity to Eden Hazard the player as I do Eden Hazard the £50 million asset. Sorry, but that's my honest view. If you stood Eden Hazard next to a pile of cash stacked in such a way as to resemble Eden Hazard (and quite honestly I think the pile of cash would be about as useful in the team as Eden has been this year) and asked me to choose, I'd probably need to flip a coin. That probably makes me a bad supporter in some people's eyes but right now I've got more respect for the players who have 1% of his natural talent but always gave their all for this club, and I can't honestly say that I believe Eden has done that this year.

My thoughts exactly. This will play out the first week of training under Conte. He and Hazard will know what path he's headed down

So basically all he has to do is run round a lot and chase the ball, and generally look like he's trying, and you would respect him more. You don't take into consideration his extreme talent when he's on form and happy ? You don't think it's worth giving him a bit more respect to try and get him happy again under a new manager, a new beginning for him. Edited April 14, 201610 yr by coco

April 14, 201610 yr Sorry, was it not clear that I hope he gets back to his best under the new coach, and that Conte could be the making of him? You said "I don't care either way", that sounds like you have given up on him.
April 14, 201610 yr You said "I don't care either way", that sounds like you have given up on him. I think he may have meant he doesn't care if we get a motivated Hazard or the load of money from selling him. I don't either, after this season I have no greater love for Hazard than whomever we would replace him with. At this point I'm cheering more for the laundry than the name on it Edited April 14, 201610 yr by TheChelseaBlues
April 14, 201610 yr You said "I don't care either way", that sounds like you have given up on him. I'd love for him to get back to his best but the onus is now on him. If he does that then great. If he doesn't show what Conte wants then he needs to go because talent isn't as important as giving everything for the team.
April 14, 201610 yr As you say, the transformation has been astounding. For whatever reason (and it's probably down to a combination of things) he has gone from hero to zero. Closest I can recall is Malouda, who although not player of the season went from being pretty decent to absolute toilet. He managed to do this twice in his time with us. Started in promising fashion, went crap, hit and sustained superb form the year we won the title under Carlo, then went crap again and left (eventually). I think Hazard's decline has been far more shocking because he was utterly superb before he lost his form, fitness, motivation and just about everything. Malouda only ever had a fraction of Hazard's quality. I really want Hazard to stay because I can't believe he'll do a Torres and end up a permanent shadow of his best, and I want to see him shine for us, not for anyone else. But it won't be a shock if he does ask to leave, as he looks totally disenchanted with life in the Prem in which he is just a target for opposition thugs and gets zero protection from refs. And if he does want a move, his transfer value will have slumped massively over the past season.
April 15, 201610 yr Imo.......Hazard needs to get away from the premiership..... I think the pressure got too much for him, and Jose didn't help matters by burning him out, playing him when he wasn't fully fit......however he definitely needs to kick start his career back on track in Spain with a transfer to either Barcelona or Real Madrid or go to PSG. But the stumbling block could be that Chelsea won't let him go for less than 75 million pounds....we shall see ! If he does go, then I can also see his Belgium mate, Courtois...... leaving aswell ( probably back to Athletico Madrid)
April 16, 201610 yr So Hiddink admitted that Hazard is in a "dark" place and is struggling with the difference of his form from last year to this year. I remember Jose in his final week with u taking about certain players not appreciating their ability and making the most of the fact that they play football for living. He must have been talking about Hazard. The guy has so much natural ability but serious lacks ambition and hunger.
