Eden Hazard - Chelsea Legend

Yep, I've often though that - kinda thing that keeps me awake at nights.

As much as I loved Jose first time, that second stint cost us big time. Sure, we had the short-term success but at what a huge cost. It's like we're all just accepting of it now as one of those things (little else you can do) but you imagine how good we could have been with a nucleus of Hazard, KDB and Salah (with a couple of additions) and how much weaker City & Liverpool would have been. Makes you want to cry...........................

With Hazard in your team, you need to find balance with other player because we all know he does not want to defend.

Costa

Hazard - Oscar - Pedro/Willian

Matic - Fabregas

Are actually almost perfect.

That perfection only lasted one season before it all went pear shaped.

I agree all sides need a balance which is why I am a fan of Gallagher in the current starting 11 when others are calling for him to be dropped. But back then, give me Hazard, KDB and Salah (rather than Oscar & Willian/Pedro), to absolutely terrorize the opposition.

Salah is definitely better than willian n pedro offensively but he has always been Liverpool worst defender and you can't have bad defender across from Hazard. KDB vs Oscar is the more interesting discussion.

Not sure personel is the problem. That team above is an absolute monster. We can play any way we want. More defensive, just bring Mikel or Ramires. More offensive, replace Azpi with a more attacking fb. More control, willian. More off the ball run, Pedro/Schurlle. We also have Drogba n remy on the bench.

Our problem under Mou 2nd season problem was more physical (mou gave them too much holiday) and aging cb/fb. Terry and Ivanovic were done. Mou asked for stones to replace Terry (JT was 500 years old) and he got Djiboudji 😁😁

If he actually had the same mentality as Ronaldo or Messi, there's no telling what he would've achieved.

What price a rounded human being with admirable priorities in life?

I'd argue he had more skill than Ronaldo!

Id agree, he is one step behind Messi, just never had the same drive and determination as those 2 to be the best unfortunately. Still, bloody marvelous to watch when he was on it, almost unstoppable.

Such a great watch/listen, really puts the players side of football into perspective. He really just enjoyed playing the game and going home and enjoying time with family and friends. I think its something at least personally I tend to forget. Whilst you'd love for someone to eat, sleep and breathe your club and do anything for them to win, it's their lives at the end of the day and their job doesn't dictate it all.

I also hadn't ever considered the impact of Covid on his recovery from injury and how badly that would have set him back. Seems significant considering the amount of abuse he was able to stand in the prem.

Also liked the comment on the supposed Kroos drama, just seems like an all round decent bloke.

That's true, but people have different priorities, some just love life a bit more than their job\career. I guess it's similar to what Shaq could have achieved if he worked as hard as Kobe or MJ. He followed his dream, didn't work out and wrecked his career. He must have known it was a risk at the time, but did it anyway, got nothing but respect for that.

He said he was unlucky after having the ankle op in Dallas that COV-ID hit and so rehab was at home on his own, thinks with hindsight he should have asked the club for help.

He has the most EPL MOTM awards even though not playing as much as some others and his rate of MOTM awards is 25%

No-one beats him on the total yet one does on the percentage, Luis Suarez on 26%. Suarez was only here for 110 matches.

I've never really liked all of the "if Hazard looked after himself better, he could have been like Messi and Ronaldo". I actually think Hazard was a breath of fresh air in a sport where players are more like machines than entertainers these days.

Also he had played more games of football by 31 than Salah.

The biggest issue I have with Hazards career is that we failed him. We should have won more in his time here if we had a better set up.

I tried to watch a Hazard tribute video but I can't. Too painful to watch greatness that we no longer have. I think this clubs needs to be in a better state before I can watch such videos.

Ridiculous. Watching his videos never fails to bring a smile to my face. We were privileged to have him at his peak.

Yes, that was a really odd comment now I see it. Whatever sh1t happens to the club shouldn't take away people's ability to enjoy football, and life in general. I wouldn't let some clowns running the club ruin my life too. As for Hazard, he's just an unique legendary player, the fact he rarely trained and still be the best player in the league is just unbelievable. It's a blessing he didn't get managed by Pep, imagine have the 'Hazard' coached out of him.

2 Prem titles isn't exactly a bad return to be fair

At least he wasn't playing in the Chelsea of the past year and a half
