Cesc Fabregas

New captain in coming.

If Conte can't have JT, he won't want any of this lot as captain.

I think it would be unfair for people to label that answer as a cop-out before you say which 'in coming' player you're thinking about. We've been linked with a lot of players but for now the only one that looks realistic is Nainggolan who speaks excellent English but is still a new player to the club.

So are you thinking him or someone else?

As usual when talking about Fabregas, you couldnt be more wrong

Anybody that see's him as captain material wants their head looking at, you are certainly top of that list.

Honestly, Your agenda is getting quite boring

This is what I think, Ivanovic will be captain next season. But I reckon we will have a new player come in this season, who will ultimately be our club captain the season following next.

That would include the two time La Liga, two-time Champions League, World Cup and European Championship winning coach Vicente Del Bosque wouldn't it?

EDIT;

So you've chosen Ivanovic. I can see the logic in that because he's been here as long as any player not called Mikel. My argument would be that there's no guarantee he'll actually be here, I don't think he should be starting and I don't think he's captaincy material. I think he's been a good servant to this club but I am at the point where I think that persisting with him in the first eleven actually limits our chances of being successful.

So who would you choose again?

It doesn't matter who I would choose.

You are wasting your time. Fabregas could score a hattrick in the CL final and Coco would still claim he is rubbish because at some point he failed to win a tackle

No it has no bearing but this is just a discussion between fans. For me Fabregas is increasingly becoming the obvious choice for captain if JT goes whereas Ivanovic is someone I'd be looking to sell.

Like I said, I wouldn't have believed I'd say such a thing a few months ago but the guy has been one of the few players who can come out of this season with any credit whatsoever. I'd build the team around the guy so why not make him captain?

It makes more sense than a declining 32 year old right-back being used at centre-back wouldn't it? I think Cahill is a better shout than that to be honest.

No what it means is people have their own opinions. Show more respect instead of acting like your own opinion is the only one that could possibly be correct.

Not sure why Fabregas gets so much stick from Chelsea fans.  I see it a little bit on here but I see a lot in the comments section of news articles around the web.

Still seems a lot of people hold him responsible for Mourinho getting the sack, not sure if those people will ever see the light really.

I think it's been proven that despite his demeanor he actually runs the furthest each game for us and I think it's been the poor form of others that have forced him into playing positions that don't totally fit his skillet.

Not many others standing out as an obvious choice for captain next season, i certainly don't think Cahill or Ivanovic are good enough to start  and it's always weird when the club captain can't get in the side.

Cesc is the coach on the field.  You can see him throughout the match pointing and directing traffic, letting others know where to be and when.  When he has time on the ball he is one of the most dangerous midfielders in the prem, creation wise.

His problem is that he isn't overly agile and isn't great at tackling/marking.  We ask him to do too much in the deeper role, which is why Mikel has been thrust into a starting position, because he can cover for Fabregas' defensive miscues.  I would prefer Matic, but we tried that partnership earlier in the year and, well, we all know how that went.

Moving forward I think Cesc is our best bet for captain. With Conte coming in and bolstering our midfield around him I think he will have the opportunity to flourish, much like Pirlo used to.  I'm looking forward to the setup next year.

"A lot has been said, and many wrong things about that situation. I love Jose and consider him even my friend, we still keep in touch now and some of the things said were unfortunate."

"I think his biggest problem was that he trusted us too much. He gave us more holiday because we were champions, he believed in us more, trusted us more, and we let him down. The whole team, all the players."

"That was the main reason why at the end he had to go. And for that, myself and all the team, will feel bad for him."

Word salad

If you let HIM down, why did HE have to go? YOU were the ones at fault in this scenario

kinda ironic not wanting Cesc to be the next captain because you think he is lazy

and then proceed to suggest Ivanovic as the next captain

Of all the criticism of Ivanovic I don't see how you can list laziness amongst them.

well at least i think he is

late coming back after going forward, not tracking opponent's movements, etc

well even if i'm wrong on that one, i don't think you can say that Cesc is lazy either

Cesc would be a fabulous captain for us, i think he'd thrive on the responsibility, he's already captained a good side in the Prem, so why not, but JT will be here next year anyways.....

Cesc has got more balls than most of our squad. He acknowledges his part in letting Jose down, I haven't heard too many others own up to it...Cesc didn't have to but he clearly respects the man and club so well done him.

As for Captain, I'd have laughed at you if 2 years ago if this was even suggested but other than JT we don't have anyone with the leadership, quality or personality to do it better than Cesc. That's without me being bitter about his past. Conte might bring his own captain in but I doubt it as they wouldn't know squat about our club.

On Jose it's clear he trusted this lot and compared them to his previous team. He probably thought of he showed them the trust they would run through walls for him again...he was wrong as this squad are half the men our old one was. Jose suffered for it which is rather sad really.

I don't think Cesc is captain material, i usually prefer captains to be defenders or players that can lead the team. He is a good player but hardly a leader, we lack leadership big time and when JT leaves i can't imagine who will take over from there.
