Cesc Fabregas

Featured Replies

I'd be disappointed if we ended up with Paulinho, while fabregas ends up going to arsenal/united/Liverpool for a similar fee.

It would be a real statement of intent signing for Liverpool.

I think he's a pretty good leader as well to be honest, but as much as I'd like to see him here, I have serious doubts he would to play for us, especially with Mourinho in charge.

I dont think Mourinho would want Fabregas, My wish would be Pogba but i still feel its unlikely. I still wouldn't mind playing Oscar there next to Matic and maybe trying to get a more creative number CAM or just move Hazard there.

Bingo!

Those mentioning Pogba or Vidal, what makes you think either is a possibility? I bumped the thread not because I think Fabregas is the best fit for us, but rather because he's the best available player that has a good chance of improving our midfield.

I'd love to have Pogba or Vidal at CFC, but I don't see them as realistic options.

I think that is an astute point abramovich.

For 30m there wouldn't be a better option out there. Certainly it would mean playing more of a 4-3-3 rather than 4-2-3-1 but I've no doubt he would make an impact.

Problem is I can't see Barca letting him go with Xavi and Ineista both closing in on the end of their careers. Who is better than Fabregas who they could reasonably get?

Problem with him is that they've played him out of position for virtually his whole time there trying to fit at one time or another, Xavi, Iniesta, Thiago, etc. into 2 positions.

Because there have numerous quotes from people at Juve and from Pogbas agent about the possibility of him leaving. His contract ends in 2 years and apparently he has no intention of signing a new one.

There are rumours he doesnt fit in with Contes plans. One of Pogba and Vidal will be leaving this summer, im certain of it.

Apparently, Man City are favourites. Doubt we'd get him.

Why are Barca happy for him to leave?

They aren't.

He wanted to leave last year and I'm assuming they realise that they can't keep him any longer.

I think all of this conversation is based on the idea that Barca have said he's available for £30m.

I think Fabregas can definitely take on the 'Modric Role' if we base it on Mourinhos' Real Madrid side and is probably one of the very few players who could do a better job than Modric. The problem I see is whether he'd be willing to join and for me it's all about Mourinho selling his vision for the Chelsea side to him.

Courtois

Azpilicueta - Cahill - Terry - Shaw

Fabregas - Matic

Willian - Oscar - Hazard

Costa

Maybe Mourinho doesn't fancy that as it could be deemed as lightweight, but I don't think Fabregas is any worse defensively than Lampard is. That side would be on a par with the very, very best for me. Admittedly very unlikely to happen of course.

What about the shirt?

So likely a return to Arsenal then if it has anything to do with a transfer.

That could possibly be an E on his shirt, as in ChElsEa.

Transfer confirmed.

Would make financial sense as well if he went to Arsenal as Barca still owe Arsenal something like £17m for his transfer.

Yeah basically Arsenal could get him at a very cheap price and I would imagine Wenger and their fans would love to have him back.

Marca is reporting United and us is in pole position. United is offering higher wages though, but Cesc loves London apparantly.

If we really want a player I cannot see us being beaten by United for wages. With Ash and possibly Lamps leaving that would be two players north of 100k a week off the wage bill.

Perhaps I haven't seen the links you have. All I remember from Pogba's interviews is how he hated his time with MU because Fergie never gave him a chance and how happy he was now at Juve. If either him or Vidal leaves, I'd love for us to have a go.

I would love to to get someone like Toni Kroos, if Fabregas is not an option. Now that Lamps is almost certainly gone, we'll need to fill that hole. Not sure about his defensive prowess, but he's a quality playmaker and would thrive alongside Matic. He's got a year left on a contract and if the situation isn't resolved until the end of summer, I'd try to offer Bayern a deal.
