Patrick Bamford - should he get a chance?

Interesting option going forward. Would like to see him go to a Premier League club and replicate it there. Perhaps he could be one of those super sub strikers in years to come.

Cracking goals from Bamford - EPL loan next season

If Derby comes up I wouldn't mind seeing him stay there... McClaren seems to rate him and so it would be good for him to be with a manager that trusts him.

We've seen with Chalobah and Josh that being loaned out to different teams all the time isn't always best for a players development.

I do agree with you, but I don't think a loan in the Championship will lead to him playing at CFC - what you are thinking about is the best move for Bamford, the best move for CFC is loaning him to a team/league that will test his abilities against top class opposition.

Have to say I like a lot of what I've seen of him. Seems like a proper striker, could be a top player under proper development.

Absolutely! If he can be nurtured the right way, but slowly, then he could well turn out to be one the best products of our youth system. I think Derby coming up next year would be fantastic and would allow us the opportunity to monitor his progress even more closely.

He's not really a product of our youth system. We bought him from Forest about 2 years ago.

Still fear he is just an investment we will look to make money off, but it's good to see a young English kid making progress...remember seeing an interview earlier in the season when he said he'd gone to Torres for advice...surely now it will be the other way round?!

I think it'll be great if he could end up being a part of the team in about 2 years. Would be a great prospect for England as well and we do need a decent crop of English players now that JT, Lamps and Cole are on the back end of their careers. Having him and Cahill along with one more English player, maybe a midfielder, would be great. I certainly believe he'd turn out to be a better player than the donkey Welbeck who's already got a number of caps.

That said, I know I'm looking well beyond the present which isn't a certainty by any stretch. As has been said, if Derby do come up then it would be wise to let him remain with them. Regardless, I think loaning him to a PL side next season would be the best move.

We have to realize though that you don't just loan players to PL sides like you're offloading to a Vitesse. They have to actually want him. Josh and Chalobah haven't been lucky in that respect. Makes letting him stay at Derby(if they do come up) and even more feasible option. I'm sure they'd love to have him for another season.

I think we've already seen with De Bruyne that there can no longer be room for sentiment as far as our youth prospects are concerned.

Sometimes they're are going to be nurtured and developed with the end goal to be simply to make a profit on them.

What Bamford has going for him is he is English and we need to be mindful of the homegrown rule and so if he continues to demonstrate that he can score goals, especially if he manages to do it on loan to a Premier League side, then he might just find himself in our squad and how knows what could happen if he managed to score a couple of goals in the cup games. It's not like we're oozing with striking talent right now is it.

Well "If they come up" they will no longer be in the championship

Hopefully McClaren takes them up, would be good to see him get a runout in the PL

One thing that I think will go in Bamford's favour as someone else mentioned is the fact that he's English.  After we flop massively at the world cup there will be more calls for the homegrown rule to be changed to include more English players than currently.

Well if Spurs are willing to buy him, then they would be willing to take him on loan too. I think a loan deal to a team like Spurs could be a good deal and would gage what level he's able to play at. We don't want to go and lose him, then the sale turns out to be another mistake made by us.

Id rather him go to a team like Villa or a team just promoted than Spurs. Couldn't see him getting many opportunities at spurs on loan

I dunno about that - even Adebayor managed to get a game!
