I thought we saw old Matic today. Harrying, covering. It felt a bit like he had rediscovered beast mode.

It did help that the team defended as one for the first time this year. Ramires was excellent leading the pressing.

Funny, I remember Matic getting a red and it being upheld for doing what Richardson did to Costa,  Only difference is that Matic did it in response to a leg breaking challenge and not some petty sh*t.  I await with baited breath to see the FA do absolutely f**king nothing.

Was delighted to see such a marked improvement in his performance last night. I don't know if it's improved fitness or having such an energetic/on-form partner next to him in Ramires but our midfield looked more solid than it has done all season. Hope this continues as Payet has been a monster this season.

The guy won't touch the ball with his right foot usually. He couldn't have picked a worse time to try it

 

Seriously though, i don't get how a professional footballer can be so 1 footed, it's a pretty serious weakness i think.

Agreed with this his actions were stupid. But then the boss confounds it all and gets himself sent to the stands. We at present are a professional club run like a Sunday League outfit from top to bottom. Everyone needs to look at themselves and ask can I do better?

What was he laughing at when he was sent off? Was a stupid challenge and the ref was within his rights to book him. He got away with another challenge in between the two yellows. It was like he was trying to get himself sent off.

Looking at both of his fouls, he deserved to be sent off.

 

Can't really blame him for his first yellow as that West Ham counter came from the ball-on-goal line corner and we were still getting back to our positions. He had to take one for the team.

 

 

 

However, he was reckless for his second even when he was already on a yellow. Pretty stupid IMO.

 

Matic needs to be sent for a visit to the boss's office. I mean Abramovic's.

Matic is not in form and stupid fouls like this and getting himself sent off puts us at a major disadvantage with over 45 mins of play still left to be played. In fact i am not even happy about the 1st yellow. HE should have let the play continue - We have Begovich on goal and the attacker still has to get past our defenders.  And if after all that he still scores - We still have over 45 mins to score 2 goals.

At least he will be available for the liverpool gane.

We all want RLC to play but there does seem to be a question mark over his positional and defensive play. Until he convinces Jose that he can be trusted, I don't think he will play.

Truth is, we DESPERATELY need Matic to find some form.
