Mohamed Salah to Chelsea

Featured Replies

Had no idea untill Saturday just how fast this lad is. RAPID.

He also reminds me of Hazard when on the ball with the low centre of gravity, reckon he could cause havoc next season and there is a part of me that would like to see him and Hazard either side of Willian in the number 10 role with Oscar next to Matic as a deep lying playmaker.

For a team that can lack creativity despite some vary attack minded players I just wonder if, against the right opposition, this may just spread and unlock defences a little easier.

He certainly offers us something different to the rest of our attacking players.

He still needs a bit of work but he could become a very good player for us.

I was pleased after the last couple of games that Jose mixed things up a bit and gave the likes of Schurrle and Salah a chance to show what they can do.

He is a whippet, bags of pace.

Should hopefully have significantly more quality and end product than the likes of Lennon, Walcott, Sterling, rather than just pace.

Lets hope he keeps improving and gets his fair chance at the right time.

I fear that with the AM's we are currently using Salah will be more of a super sub than a starter. A bit like a Kalou squad type player.

With the way Mourinho gets those attacking players working defensively, pressing they will all get plenty of games because its pretty tiring so they will need rotation.

Meh, don't think Salahs performance was that great on saturday. Was decent. Great he got a goal though.

He needs more gametime for sure though.. However it seems that he thrives/exploits space a lot of the tine. Hazard for example doesn't need that space to do well and to an extent Schurrle but he generally lays it off when he's got a lot of defenders around him and he doesn't have space to run into channels or down the byline.

If we have too many space exploiters, then we would struggle to break down teams who will narrow the space as much as possible as we play through the middle more than using width. This was seen against Palace, for example.

It's great that he's got pace to burn over distance, we've seen and felt that, initially to our detriment and now to our benefit.

Where I can also now see some benefit is the little darts of pace over 3-5 yards/metres, such as the run he made when fouled for the penalty on Saturday. We've been crying out for this for a good while, stretches and panics defenders into silly actions as well as getting them turned around.

I think Salah is definitely an exciting prospect. The finishing left a lot to be desired however his dribbling and speed was very Messi-esque. He's only 21/22(?) so a couple years down the line I think he'll be fantastic. Looking forward to seeing him improve.

As what point I thought we would be seeing something along these lines...

I wish he could reach Robben's heights, but I think we all know that will be difficult.

Do you know what impresses me about the goal you just posted ? See where Robben's arm is pulled, he stays on his feet and scores. Nowadays most players (especially Robben) would dive.

Really don't know what was going on with his finishing at the weekend, the early miss seemed to rattle him and he lost all composure in front of goal after that.

Still looks an exciting player but the Swansea game was a reminder that he is far from the finished article... Good for him to get another 90 minutes under his belt though.

Agree with the above in regards him not being the finished article.

He really does have bags of raw pace and this is surely something that can be used at the right time.

HIs finishing was so so bad, quite disappointing he missed the early chance, if he put that in you'd think we'd have gone on a rout. It could have been a very costly miss.

Yeah, I do think if he knocked that one in, he might have had been a little more composed later with other chances.

He was quite frustrating, but at the same time, a refreshing change from thev dawdling one v one style of Hazard and Willian.

(Wish Hazard would do more of the direct stuff).

I don't think he'll get to those heights. Robben has that burn to be the best and he is selfish in the way it is almost too much. I don't see that burn in Salah to be honest. But it is too early to assess. However I think Jose is the best manager for his type of player. Jose usually makes a players best quality shine.

I think he adds another dimension to our attack. The composure and decision making will improve in years to come. I hope we stay patient with him. Let's face it, if he has good shooting, he will be worth far more than the 11M

I may be getting ahead of myself here, but I think he may be our best player in terms of going past defenders, perhaps even better than Hazard.

If he can just finish what a f**king player he will be.

yeah finishing was a state vs. swansea but he's looked v encouraging to me

we know adapting can be hard, can't be any easier in january. so any promise at all this season after coming from basel is a big plus for me

i know it's clichéd to say "at least he's getting in the positions" but i really think it applies. he seems to create a lot of these spurned opportunities himself, and his feet are crazy quick. obviously raw and some bad touches but some absolutely sublime ones. love how direct he is too, hopefully he won't lose that when becoming more accustomed to defensive responsibilites

i think he has a very high ceiling as a player

Yeah, his finishing wasn't great against swansea, but as we all know, a player can miss chances like that one game, then have their shooting boots on in the next game. If he plays against sunderland, he could end up getting scoring a goal or two, you just never know. Ronaldo has missed similar chances before, but then goes on to score a hat trick in the next game; i know he isn't on ronaldo's level, but even the best have games like that. I think he's showed a hell of a lot of promise during his previous appearances. I mean, it's hard to pick out one game where he didn't score, or at least have influence in the game. Lets be honest, if we are going to criticise for salah for those few missed chances, we should also be disappointed with eto'o for missing those other 2 big chances, after all, he is supposed to be the world class striker.

I would argue that he seems to be one of the best strikers of the ball on our team right now.

This boy is very quick, up there with bale IMO, can just imagine opposing defenses having to stop him, let hope we help him to raise his level of play

Salah can either go the Robben way or the SWP way.

Salah has already doubled Sean Wright Phillips's goal contribution to CFC.

Did you see the Swansea match!

The boys got talent no doubt but he's still got a long way to go before he establishes himself in the starting XI.
