Eto'o played well with the service he got, can't fault him all that much, Cahill did well too, Dave was okay, not solid as normal but still a good enough performance and Matic did the bare minimum right which was good enough to warrant praise in an otherwise poor team performance.

I would probably go with Cahill if I had to pick one.

Matic and Willian were probably our best performers, Cahill was doing a good job before he got injured too.

Voted for Willian.

I think it was a toss up between Matic Willian and Cahill, thought Oscar and Ramires looked out of sorts and Hazard might be carrying a bit too much expectation, he can't have stand out performances every game.

I think at a push, I'll just about give it to Matic.

Cahill. To be honest i think he was the only player that didn't lose his head tonight and seemed to cope well when under pressure.

I'm surprised Willian and Matic are getting the majority of the votes right now. Willian gave the ball away more than ever and most of his corners where just hit and hope. Great runner as ever but really he was no different than having Ramires on the wing.

Matic gave some silly fouls away in dangerous areas and passing was a bit up and down.

Like the one that we scored from?  ::MooNeY::

Even that was a poor corner though, Luiz had be clever to make something out of it.

A ball to the near post for someone to flick on is a pretty common set piece concept.

Cahill kept us in it and was our only leader (ish) at the end.

Eto'o showed the importance of a striker who can hold up and link up the play when he went off. Didn't realise how important he has been in our good little run. Not Torres bashing as he came on after not starting for a month, so it was always go to be difficult. But a 'proper' striker really does make a difference. Hopefully Torres gets game time to be the proper striker again like he was a months or so ago, but with the fixture list coming up, I don't see where. Maybe City away in the Cup. Given the longevity we are trying to build that should be a Que Sera competition.

Players are better when they don't player, and today showed how good JT is.

Such a shame Ivan, Luiz and to some extent Cech lost their heads defensively.

(I know I don't normally post on Matchday MOM threads, but it was the second game I have seen in 2014 live with access to this forum afterwards.)

Anyway up the blues. As Jose said....We lacked personality, which is why MOM is hard to vote for.

Did he mean to do it though ? He failed to beat the first man so often tonight it was hard to tell if that was an accident or a clever piece of football.

Thought we were pretty poor throughout. Cech, Ivanovic, Luiz, Ramires, Oscar and even Hazard by his standards, were well below their best. Can't say I thought Matic did as well as some people seem to think. Thought he was quite sloppy at times.

So by a process of elimination I ended up with Cahill. Who was the least worst Chelsea player on the pitch.

Think Jose has to take some of the blame for not choosing to freshen things up. He had Schurrle and Cole sat on the bench. While taking off Oscar for Mikel and Eto'o for Torres just seemed to make things worse.

Going to go with Willian. Harshly booked in my opinion and didn't set a foot wrong all game.

HM: Matić (what a pickup he has been so far) and Luiz (had a great first half).

I wouldn't call anyone awful for this game. Credit to West Brom. You could tell it was coming. Now come on Man Utd and Sunderland.
